Visually it looks great, (like all of Scott's films) but I don't trust anything Ridley Scott makes, especially these days. In my opinion, he's only made one great film, a few good ones, and and plenty horrible. Hopefully this turns out well.

So which one haven't you seen: ALIEN or Blade Runner?

Trailer didn't do much for me, and I think this will be another one of Scott's costly underwhelming performers...

I can think of at least two brilliant movies by Scott: Alien and Blade Runner. Both pretty much timeless classics if you ask me.
The there's at least a couple of excellent movies: Gladiator and Black Hawk Down.
And many good ones, like Kingdom of Heaven, A Good Year, American Gangster and Prometheus.

Saw them both :lol

I think Alien is the only great movie he's made, Blade Runner was okay but I never thought it was the masterpiece some people made it out to be. Even Gladiator I find doesn't hold up these days, it's not as timeless as some other movies in its genre such as Braveheart.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's a crappy director, but I don't think he's one of the greats. Every 5 or 6 movies he can put out a really enjoyable flick, but these days especially, whatever his name is attached to, whether it's as a director, producer, executive producer or whatever, the movie is likely to not be so great.

I guess I'll have to add Blade Runner as his second great movie, but I personally never understood why it's held in such high praise.

All the movies you listed at the bottom though I find completely underwhelming.

Great trailer but it looks like nothing compared to Interstellar.

Agreed.

I like it, but damn they give away way too much in the trailer. Wtf, between this and Terminator basically giving away the plot, may stop watching trailers all together.

Looks great. I think Ridley will make a solid movie. He has a good story behind him so no reason to think the movie will be much different. At least it doesn't seem like much is changing, based on what was in the trailer.

The book is really good, but it's not some mind-F kind of a story, so it's probably better that people know not to expect some twist or something completely unexpected. But it is a good story with a unique perspective that makes it worthwhile, IMO.

Agreed- Thelma and Louise was good too.
Never saw A Good Year.....!

Ridleys work is a hell of a lot more watchable than 90% of the tripe entertainment out there today.

But this one, the book was so good because of the inner dialogue of Mark with his log, essentially talking to himself and hoping someone might read it some day...you can't do that in a film effectively unless it's going to be us watching video logs of MATT DAMON talking . That's would be bad.

Ridley hated the over dialogue in Blade Runner and took it out so now it's actually very hard to find the original film withy the dialogue from Deckard over the film. Personally I liked that version better and I think it's the only way this film will work.
Show Mark doing his science while a running dialogue of his log plays over the scene.....

I really hope they don't do video logs...
