Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

Wow, the low meter isn't even up on the ex yet, with only 3 months until shipping, I think the ex will be around a long time like the speederbike pf. That means savings :yess:

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

funny you mentioned the speederbike. I am considering getting into the SW line and wanted to check off the expensive ones first, that is one of them. BUT the piece is actually barely above retail. Why is that? You'd think that thing would be a whopper in the aftermarket?

$500 is the threshold what a lot of people are willing to spend on a VERY GOOD statue(be it ebay or retail), At $1000 the piece has to be extremely exceptional and rare...

Scout & biker retailed for $800, so right off the bat that price hit the threshold for many, it's a nice piece but no way close to the predator maq/optimus prime/old avengers level, and why it is still stagnant after years.

Rwos pf is the same deal, except it has open edition for reg, not soldout, is lotr, and the figure is just a bunch of ragcloth. Expect to see the ex in gift card section eventually.

It's a lot easier for a $250-350 statue to goto $500 than a $800 statue to goto $1000+, and marvel/dc comic is always more popular than star wars which is always more popular than lotr in term of statues.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

I would go out on a limb and guarantee it won't be sold out. How many people will be willing to drop over $800 for it right after christmas or even put down a deposit right before christmas?

I noticed that the max flex-pay has gone from 5 months down to 4. That's not exactly gonna help sales either.
Either way, I can't wait until Feb (hopefully) for it to arrive.:yess:

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

I've noticed that about the FlexPay payments, too. (Not just on this piece.) Do the number of FlexPay payments decrease the closer we get to release? Do they gradually dwindle down to one once the item is released?

I think that might be the case. I thought they might increase them again once the item has shipped and is sitting on the shelf but I'm not sure. I could have sworn that the Snow Troll had 5 months listed a few days ago but I just checked again and it now only has 3.:dunno

I think you're right.

And, yeah, this doesn't seem like a good strategy for selling some of these higher priced items. Because if a piece turns out well (and it's still available), there's usually an uptick in sales once the in-hand pictures start coming out when it ships. And if that happens here -- if they wait too long to re-introduce a Flex option -- that might end up scaring off a number of sales.

I'm on the fence about Sauron as it is. If I do go ahead and pull the trigger on him it's only gonna be once I've payed off the Dark Rider, but only if there's still enough flex-payments to ease the monthly hit.

Exactly. I'm in that exact same boat. I totally understand that they don't want to drag out sales for six months while these big ticket items clog their warehouse ... but I would think slow sales are better than no sales.

Cant wait for february i hope it looks as awesome as the proto pics :)

I'm sure it's gonna kick ass. :rock

With hobbit fever coming up and if the product is well done, EX won't stays available on site for sure.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

dont be shocked if we see a Black Rider or Ringwraith in the Hobbit films....someone has to take care of the Necromancer aka Sauron at Dol Guldur....I at least hope we see one anyway

Nah, it won't help push a $800 item around the holidays at all. Guaranteed!

Problem is that I don't remember any rw's in the hobbit. I do think the spirit of. Sauron makes an appearance in the forest

There is no mention of Saruman or Radagast or Galadriel in the Hobbit too...but they are in the film...So as for my self I have my hopes up...even if they are in some other form and not riders in black...Somebody had to take care and guard Sauron...I could see Wrights in this film too...I hope

Now AFTER the holidays it may be a different story. People might get a little Christmas money to play with.

Though this sort of product would move a heck of a lot faster if Sideshow would finally develop a proper Gift Certificate system. I can't tell you how many times friends and family members have said they'd love to buy me something from Sideshow for Christmas, but they never know what I've already got, or what I already have coming on pre-order. A real gift card system like so many other retailers have (not the discount cards they have now) could seriously help clear out their inventory. Especially when it comes to the more expensive pieces. :(
