Thanks for the kind gesture there Rulk, but I've also got a bunch of PS3 games I haven't even touched yet. :lol

Mine should arrive tomorrow. I am looking forward to it since I enjoyed the last game so much.

I do need to give Uncharted a try. I bought a used PS3 earlier this year and picked up the first 3 Uncharted games, but haven't played them yet.

Not that the new Tomb Raider games are bad- far from it. It's just that it's hard to differentiate the new games with Uncharted where they both do the exact same thing- mindless cover shooting, super unrealistic set pieces, close calls and the protagonist narrowly escapes a crumbling environment. Unlike Tomb Raider, Uncharted is self aware at how dumb these scenes are and Nathan Drake tends to make light of it, with some of the most hilarious quips ever to come out of a videogame character. Having a sense of humor makes me look forward even more to what fate would throw at Drake next.

Lara on the other hand, handles these falling cliffs, explosions, escape from the crumbling environment like it's real. There is no humor, no irony, nor witty remarks which takes away from the immersion imo. I love the Tomb Raider series when it had it's own identity of exploration and sense of awe, not when it's trying to be a serious Uncharted clone.

I know a this opinion will get a lot of hate but there's nothing wrong with stating one's opinion so long as we're all being polite and respectful, is there? :)

I do want to give this game a run.. eventually, but I don't really want to have to buy a new console in order to play it.

They're still doing new releases for PS3 as we speak, so could it have hurt them to include this new 'TR' & U4 as well?? :lol

am definately looking forward to picking up the Uncharted collection on ps4... i just got to get around to picking a ps4 up. Too many good games out at the moment on pc, including the new TR when that releases :gah:

Looks pretty. I really didnt like the reboot just felt like a souless 'dark' version of Uncharted and abit of Last of Us with the bow thing.

Tell you what though, I played The Last Revelations yesterday. God I loved it. The puzzles were brilliant. Shame that TR isnt like that anymore. Id love the death defying traps with a small amount of combat.

Enjoy Xbox owners.

Stopped being a fan after Lara Croft entered Uncharted territory.. :monkey3

Bought mine today and giving it a go now. I thought the first one was very good. Played it on the 360 and again on the PS4. I miss hearing sounds emit from the PS4 speaker and I was a bit concerned about them being able to hit 1080p on the Xbox One but it looks fantastic so far. Just in the first tomb now.

They can't win. The last few games were getting panned in reviews and it needed to be revitalised. People complaining about it being too serious are the same ones who would say it's copying uncharted if it was lighter in tone.

^ That's interesting, because from what I've noticed Anniversary, Legend & Underworld are looked on pretty favourably.

The only one that really deserves any panning is Angel Of Darkness (although I'm playing through it as we speak & quite like it so far bugs aside), because it was an unfinished game essentially.

Fact is, they need a game that sells. Underworld was the last main game prior to the reboot and in my opinion, it was a fantastic game that came out at the wrong time. It was competing around the time Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid 4 and GTAIV and of course it sold poorly.

I'm gonna be the first to admit that it's people like me that contributed to the creation of the reboot. I borrowed a copy of Underworld from my friend in late 2008 and found it "boring". and it didn't helped that the gaming trend at the time was fast paced action games with Gametrailers calling Underworld "a relic". I too wanted something with more action, like GTA, Uncharted and Metal Gear.

Of course, by 2012, we already had PLENTY of action packed games that are so refined that you could say most action games are just repackages of another, so I finally decided to beat Underworld and instead of thinking it was a relic, I found it to be a lost gem.

Granted, I'm not saying all the old TR games are perfect, but they had their own identity and ideas. What I would have loved is if the developers opted to refine the formula, rather than make it an full blown action game. We have too many of of those now.

I understand that every series has to evolve in order to survive, but merely catering to what's popular will inevitably do more harm in the long run than good. Look at Resident Evil, do I need to say more? :lol

I guess every good series - whether in the gaming or film world for that matter, plateaus then peters off. Yeah, these new ones don't offer anything fresh compared to what's already out there, but it's all about catching the gravy train isn't it. :lol

Incidentally, a local gaming TV show I watch regularly, just reviewed this new one & gave it a perfect score. Honestly, it looks just like the last one to me, except for some new things they've added. It's probably worth owning a copy of eventually, but like I said - I'm not in a hurry to buy a new console.

So are we ever going to see this Lara ever again?

Are they ignoring the older storylines as well? Like Von Croy, Amandam Natla. etc.

Tomb Raiders problem is the Same as Resident Evil. Superb PS1. Superb PS2. They needed to refresh themselves but in the time it has taken to finally change they lost what they were, and they now become a blurred line as not only do they lose their original storytelling aspects they are a victim because they just become something which is like every other 3rd person shooter or action adventure.

Tomb Raider took too long and just plays like most 'dark edge' games with a common control scheme and is indistinguishable. It needed to pioneer itself but instead is just like other games.

They just lose their souls. Play Last Revelations and its like a completely different series.

The lighting in this game is great.

I can understand the comparison with the Uncharted series but it didn't feel like Uncharted with a girl in the first one and I don't feel it this time either. Some similarities.. Sure. Big time set pieces is something that it definitely borrowed from Uncharted. But I feel like Tomb Raider does more with environmental weather, hunting, exploration and crafting. I think they can co-exist with separate fan bases. I'm having a blast.

Meh... I don't care if it's like Uncharted I want classic Lara back. Too bad she's only being used for mobile games. While we're stuck with Hunger Games/Hawkeye/ Green Arrow/ Assassin Creed/ Rambo hybrid. :lol

Get classic Lara back and Keeley Hawes as the voice again. The new reboot actress is fine and all, but her grunts and screams sounds like ****.

I do believe the classic games will make a comeback someday, especially when the new games are so generic (albeit being good shooters). If people got tired of the action heavy Resident Evils and the the wanted slower, puzzled solving gameplay of the old RE games, then people will get tired of this eventually.

Yea, this game rocks. It has actually doesn't have much combat at all and most of it is traversal and exploring. Luddington is an awesome Lara and she's becoming more and more like the Lara of old as the game progresses. People now comparing this to the recent resident evil games. Lol. Not even close.
