Not true. I think Star Trek is boring and dull....yet this movie was pretty freaking amazing. Every second rules.

Love Trek, but didnt like the movie much.
Spock in a romance with Uhura? Dont think so.
Kirk was miscast.
The Enterprise looked stupid with those bulbous nacelles.
Too many plot holes.
Pike was also miscast.
The bridge looked like an apple store.
A few good effects but other than that....

pike, as played by bruce greenwood was brilliant in his role. he brought a significant amount of class, dignity, gravitas and authority to the character. a perfect father figure for the unfocused, errant young kirk.

i had some problems with the new trek movie as well. the 3rd act was very weak, imo. but overall, it is an excellent way to reboot a stalled franchise. great job by jj abrams.

anyway, back on topic...

so far i'm not really liking the predator designs. but one interesting design element that caught my eye is that these preds seem to have attached the jawbones of their prey onto their bios (like tusks, fangs, etc.) that gives it a more tribal feel, which is cool. it's just the shape of the bios themselves that kinda bug me right now. hope to see clearer shots though, before making up my mind.

For me the plot holes and coincidences take away from it after multiple viewings - I agree that the new Enterprise design SUCKS...seriously fugly. And the lens glare, though cool at first, is just damn annoying.

The new actors were good though IMO, wouldn't change that.

I'm torn on the tusks, sometimes it looks cool sometimes it doesn't, in that shot it looks cool, some of the trailer shots, not so much.

ok, i have no incentive to take your "miscast" comments seriously.
spock and uhura were together because it's a totally separate time line, and anyway, who cares.
i would ask about the "plot holes"... but judging by your attitude, you just didn't pay attention.

Too bad they weren't clever enough to give this one the old Gort helmet, which was the original helmet for P1. That would have been a huge nod to the serious fans, and we'd finally get to see what he looks like with it. It would also help make him a little different than P1 while still pretty much being P1 in design.

As it is, this is an easy way for Hot Toys to repachage and resell the P1. If they don't, the exisitng P1 is going to reach Asia Exclusive Ancient prices after July.

wasn't the avp celtic helmet pretty much the same thing as the gort one?

I think that's unlikely - the Asia Exclusive Ancient was at high prices pre-AVPR anyway, seeing as how it was a very limited run. The original P1, being a 'standard' run, seems unlikely to ever reach that level of rarity. However, I can see this being the answer to why Hot Toys never produced the expected second P1 variant.... they were aware of the new designs and are (slightly) reworking to those.

Being slightly cynical, I wonder if "Classic"'s inclusion in the new film is a marketing piece... show the general audience what they recognise as the Predator before bringing in the new, more radical designs.
