This is 2013 he must not harm actual criminals

the sad thing is that I can completely imagine this happening.... I can picture it perfectly.
And Part of the trailer looks that way at least. There is a clip of IRONCOP being surrounded by robots. So this might actually end up happening word for word.
I've watched the trailer a couple of times now.
I knew it reminded me of something and one of the suggested videos was the Dredd trailer. The trailer is structured just like Dredd, almost exactly. Gritty CGI city with a tower, crime and corruption, rioting and drones, then it builds up to the guy that can stomp all this out.
Back in 2012, I kinda had the same feelings with Dredd that I have with this now. "Eh, looks like Total Recall remake. Soul less, CGI, sci-fi modern crap", you know what I'm talking about. That 3D stuff didn't help either. You know what though? I ended up LOVING Dredd. That was one of my favorites, if not my favorite summer film of 2012 other than the Avengers.
I'm going to give this a chance. Trailers are hardly anything to go by. True, the Dredd being a remake of the Stallone flick is not even a comparison to this and the original Robocop. The original is a classic and one of my favorite films. But to just write this off completely and be like "RENTAL" or "NETFLIX" seems like a poor judgement call. It's "Robocop" and has a stellar cast. The trailer is practically a scene to scene rip of the Dredd trailers. I must see this. If it's bad, oh well, but what if it's good?
To be fair, any movie where a cop get rebuilt as a cyborg would've been called a Robocop knockoff anyway so why not?

This is going to be the end of Avengers 2, too, with a bunch of Ultrons running around.
Even has his motorcycle like Dredd.
I bet there's even some psychic element in this.
Now, lets say the movie plot plays out like Dredd, but unlike Dredd it sucks, but also unlike Dredd it is a box office hit.
That would be a damn shame.
You're completely missing the point. Nobody is suggesting that they literally make a movie about someone named Alex Murphy who is a cybernetic cop created by OCP but then give it a different title. Of course people would say its a clear RoboCop ripoff.
What this movie clearly wants to be is IRON MAN, not RoboCop. So run with it. Have the guy be a soldier. Say the military is making these super cybernetic men and he's the first. But of course he resists the programming or whatever and goes rogue. Maybe he was an enlisted man who found out his wife and kids were murdered while he was on duty. He can't let it go so instead of fighting on the battlefield he returns home and hunts down his family's killers, and everyone like them.
Totally freaks out the military that they've just created the most indestructible vigilante ever made and they send drones or additional cyborgs after him. So you've got elements of The Crow, Universal Soldier, RoboCop, Iron Man, Batman, The Wraith, and The Punisher all in one. Call it "Cybersoldier" or something and instead of an Iron Man wannabe calling itself RoboCop you've got something more akin to The Matrix or Star Wars that borrows from EVERYTHING and therefore seems less offensive and possibly...inspired.
I want a Dredd sequel.
I wanted them to stop making Robocop after the craptacular Robocop 2.
"♫ Robocoooopp..♫ .. Robocoooop ♫"
There is only one Robocop film and it's a classic.
No sequels, no TV series, no TV movies, no cartoons, no remakes.

Man this movie looks sick, that guy from the killing is an awesome actor, im now looking forward to this
Honestly, AICN and Sideshow collectors movie forums have a lot in common these days
This movie looks like it could be a lot of fun, judging from the trailer, but I don't think there's anyway it could top the original.
