Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Marvel should be ashamed of themselves for blocking XMen figures.

FF4 is fine, no one in their right mind would want Trank movie figures. :lol

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

People were pissed at the lack of Rey figures from TFA and lack of Black Widow from Avengers :lol

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Far as I'm concerned the whole Star Wars line went to ***t with the Black series, TFA and when they started doing the 6inch figures. Hasbro is now confusing as ****. I never know what I'm looking at or where to find 3.75 OT stuff, if it even exists anymore.

Ah, yes. Now I remember. :lol :lol

So there's 6 inch figures, and the Black Series? Now I'm confused. Pretty sure I picked up the black series figures. :lol

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

They just did a similar thing with their Marvel line. All of the figures fall under the name of "Marvel Legends", but there are both 3 3/4" and 6" scale.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

What I don't get about the Black series is this. If you compare them to figures from 5 years or so ago, they are inferior, poor paint apps, articulation etc sure they are better than the current smaller figures, but still relatively substandard in comparison to older cheaper 3.25" figures?
It's weird that people are ok paying so much for them as if they are elite releases.
:lol

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

When everything is now called by the same thing it's kinda frustrating to browse online stores or even discussion forums. Am I looking at a 6inch figure or a 3.75? Is it one of those 5POA things and if so is there a fully articulated equivalent somewhere else or what? Star Wars collecting just got very very ***t.

Are you talking about the 6 inchers? I think most of those look like crap. A Tatooine Luke I was looking at the other night had some truly terrible proportions. Mind you I could never get one at 3.75 that I was truly satisfied with. The one from a battlepack called ''Resurgence of the Jedi'' if memory serves was the best but his legs were tiny and made him stand like a ballerina. I think even the outfit colours might have even been wrong. You just couldn't win with Tatooine Luke.

Hell, the Super Powers and GI Joe figures from 30 years ago are way better than anything released today at mass markets, quality-wise. Things are going backwards.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I feel bad for the sculptors at Hasbro and Mattel, their sculpts are usually fantastic and even better than Hot Toys (as seen when someone repaints their figures), but then the molding, casting and mass paint applications come and all hints of their good work are lost in a shapeless blob of plastic.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Nah, that's not at all accurate.

Articulation is lights year ahead on many products.

It's not though man, there were some SW figures released 3,3/4 that had just as much articulation as The Black Series 6" figures. There were some Jedi with material cloaks for example, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip and knee articulation?
The small figures went back to lumps of plastic with 4-5 points of articulation and the 6" Black figures got hyped up in price.

Yeah, the 6" figures. And the prices are just crazy. Saw some of TFA figures on sale for €39.99!!!!

But the old days didn't have mid level items (your Mezco, SHFA, Mafex just to name a few) and high end were not even possible so overall the progress in quality has increased tremendously even if the lower cost items have only slightly improved.

Toys have improved.

Yeah man, you're right about that. I was just referring to SW figures. They moved their standards backwards and starting charging crazy money for toys that are manufactured at a similar level to cheap toys from years ago.
