Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

All I can say is the dirty stormtrooper looks cool. That's all I see.

But the fact that now I know Jyn is "rescued" already told me too much of the story.

The updated stormtroopers look pretty cool on screen -- in this shot not so different from the OT. I thought HT's copy of an update missed a few things in terms of overall feel, could be I was right about that...I'll see soon enough.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

It won't, but she'll be that good...she'll be perfect.

She'll beat Vader using the lower ground.

I can maybe buy the kick, especially since she caught the guy by surprise. The hook...shouldn't have dropped the second guy. I've been punched in the face many times (I was an amateur fighter) and it takes significant power and technique to drop someone who has any experience at all, and I'm presuming a soldier would, plus he was bigger and her punch wasn't exactly finely executed. The shovel I'll buy, of course.

Still, that was a fun scene.

**At best, if she caught his tongue between his teeth or clacked his teeth together hard, maybe. I just took into account he's not wearing a mouthpiece.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

Yeah it was noticeable for me too, but I thought they were sent to get her so it's not like they could've shot her or drop her (or they could've but there'd be outrage), and she had a shovel.

At least I hope that's how it plays out, if not, oh boy, I wonder why when they try to make strong female characters, they have to be literally physically stronger than men twice as big as them :lol like there's no other strengths than physical.

Don't get me wrong, say, I'm 100% sure Gina Carano could fade most men fairly easily, but this 100lbs looking girl?

Other than that, the photo and the score and the atmosphere were impressive for me, I almost makes me want to pay to see it.

Let's be honest, even if you could take Gina Carano, you'd let her win :lol

I've trained alongside both male and female fighters of varying weight classes and ability, from no-talent punters to solid intermediates, up to professional, world-class champions...(I was only ever intermediate myself)...

If a well-trained 115-pound female gets a clean shot on you in the sweet spot, it could dazzle you. I've been tagged by dudes bigger than me and had my vision blur, seen stars or whatever...but I can tell you the only shot that's ever knocked me down was a head-kick I ate in an actual tournament fight, and although I've got a pretty solid jaw, I'm not exactly a monster.

Truth is I have more of an issue with that zero-technique haymaker she throws than her size, but most people aren't looking at that scene techically.

The Black widow fight scenes must drive you crazy :lol

I get what you mean, I've fought myself too :hi5: Muay Thai, TKD, boxing and some wresting (which I don't care for, I know it's necessary but *groans*), a no-talent punter, that'd be me, but I did get in the cage once or twice.

I've been "blurred" too, but not in the cage, in a soccer match actually, I got up on someone's face after he tackled me, he didn't like it and I got a nice split lip.

Sure almost anybody up to a certain weight could get a good hit in provided the moment is pretty *ideal* but unless it's Cassandra Cain or Black Widdow, I don't buy it.

Of course some suspension of disbelief is necessary so I can let this slide, but if she starts fading niccas left and right, it will be problematic.

The Black widow fight scenes must drive you crazy :lol
Like ZE says, in that case, she's a master assassin, I don't get OCD from that.

In fact most times she uses weapons, locks and kicks, I can tell BW knows what she's doing, and it's Marvel.

Even in that fight with Favreau in IM2 she makes a knot with him instead of punching him :lol

I bet I can beat you in a boxing fight!! Come on, bro!! Fight me!! Mexico vs PR!!! :monkey3

Yyyyyuppp. :lecture See Sarah Connor in T2. Used improv and surprise to beat up the guards at the hospital. Cameron didn't try to pretend she could kick the ***t out of everyone.

Immediate concession of defeat. Do with me as you will Gina.

Right? She was a stick figure, but she had more balls than any man in the room.

Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I bet you could :lol I have terrible defense and footwork. In soccer though, I can dive better than you I bet you that!

You box?

We suck at football (soccer). :lol

Yeah, I can box. Not professionally, but I took boxing lessons at a local boxing gym when I was a kid. I've done some sparring too, but I've only been in two actual fights in my life when I was in high school and there was no boxing or skills involved :lol

Yeah I can't fight professionally either, my then teacher, he's a state champion I think, "sparred" with me on occasions and he was only ever taking the piss :lol

El Canelo Álvarez went to the gym one day too, to do one of those media "training" sessions they do, I had to go home that day cause the place got pretty crowded :lol I've also seen him on occasions jogging in a forest near my house, I've never talked to him, I've been told he's a ******, plus I don't really get star-struck.

I've never been in street fights myself, I'm glad about that. Although I've always wanted to be in clandestine fight club, that'd be awesome.

Nice! I did Muay Thai on and off for over a decade. Last fight was 2012. I did some wrestling in high school but I don't really count that. My favourite spot was the clinch. A lot of dudes hated the knees and elbows in there, but I felt a lot more in control and preferred that kind of slugging match, mostly because to be honest, my hands sucked. :lol

Yeah, she does a few things where I'm like...no...but the rest of it I can accept. Plus Scarlett.
