I always believed , following Ledgers iconic performace, we would have seen him return for TDKR.

The film community would have almost demanded it. I always thought they were going to have all three in the story, ruling the trapped Gotham from on high. Scarecrow Judge, Bane muscle, Joker King.

Or maybe Bats and Joker team up to take Bane down, after Joker sees Bane is out to steal his town...

Its a shame that we'll never know.

For me, TDKR is right smack on the borderline between my list of films that are poorly made to the point where I can't have fun watching them (The Star Wars Prequels, Batman v Superman) and films that have a few clear problems but are still overall enjoyable (The Force Awakens, Age of Ultron).

I go back and forth on weather or not I even like it; haha.

Don't listen to him. He wants to cloud your mind. :lol

TDKR is overall better than BB....really. Batman Begins is only good because it came after Batman and Robin and TDKR after TDK.

Admit TDKR sucks. Watch TDK instead. It's good.

A Batman movie won't be that good again for many, many years.

God its sad how true your post is.

I think il go watch Batman Begins. I actually loved that one the most. I liked how they weren't afraid to be a bit more artistic and atmospheric with the look of it.

I find BB to be the most satisfying overall but when I marathoned the trilogy this summer I found things to enjoy in all of them. But they all have a pretty boring first hour. :lol

I respect BB... but I did find it boring. Hate to say it. Wanted to love it.

But I did love TDK. Mostly for Ledger of course. What he did was brilliant. It was just on the other night and I was mesmerized again by him.

He didn't have a plan. He said so.

:D

Yeah, he had a little notebook and everything :lol

Hey, I'm promoting your avatar and you're saying you prefer TDKR. Maybe you should change your avatar to a Bane-vatar. Or Talia maybe, since she had the balls.

In all seriousness, Bane is my third favorite movie Batman villain behind Ledger and Nicholson. He had so many great lines, and I really liked what Hardy did with the character. :)

Too bad they put a good villain in a bad movie.

Its OK, I like Maul and they put him in a bad movie too.

And wait -- Nicholson and Ledger played the same villain, so Bane is your 2nd favorite, right?

Saying it's a bad film won't make it so...even if really don't enjoy it :lol

Yeah, I guess Bane would be second as a character, but if I had to rank my favorite movie villains, Ledger and Nicholson as separate characters/performances would be above Hardy's Bane, so that's why he's in third place.

As far as Nicholson vs Ledger...it's a tough one because I grew with Jack's version, but Ledger was soooo good, unique, and different while staying faithful to the character. Both had great lines and scenes.

Or "Wookiees don't live on Endor therefore I figured out you were Batman" Blake.

Haha. What's weird is that this part could have easily made a lot of sense. I get what they were going for. Kids used to make up stories about Bruce Wayne. John Blake made up the story that he was Batman, and then the more he thought about it over the years the more it actually made sense to him and he started taking the theory seriously.

But then they tried to merge this dialouge with some character building for John, and it turned into this clunky and awkward explanation that made no sense.

I think all the villains in the Nolan films were pretty good. I enjoyed the whole trilogy quite a bit on a recent rewatch despite the fact I had been on a bit of an anti-Nolan bandwagon for a while.

Yeah, it would have made more sense if Blake was related to the alley kid from Batman Begins, the one Batman gave a souvenir. Blake who becomes a cop, investigates the origin of the artifact, maybe finds a print inside, or traces the item to Wayne industries. Maybe Blake could have been that kid instead. That was the only thing I thought it was a bit silly, but it wasn't Pa Kent Tornado silly, imo.

They are two such different takes on the character; preference comes by whether you like a more comedic (flamboyant) Joker or a more serious (scary) Joker I guess.

If I had to choose, I think I'd pick Ledger's Joker... and I'm actually amazed I just said that as a long time fan of Jack... but I think Ledger's take was very genuine in what a "real" Joker would be like while retaining the themes of the character. And he felt totally new and original. That alone is really hard to do, let alone go with that voice and pull off a scary MF too.

Leto never had a chance really. Hampered by following Ledger and by the current iteration of the DC film universe which, rightly or wrongly, has an awful reputation.
