OK, put yourself in Disney's place: what the hell else are you going to say when a major film goes into major reshoots?

**in little girl voice** Oh, we had a really good movie we just wanted to make even greater, for you.... for all of you.

Well you certainly wouldn't lie and say that your director sucks if he doesn't. Viggo Mortensen said that TTT and ROTK were pure **** until the profits of FOTR caused New Line to throw tons more cash into allowing Peter Jackson to salvage them. Does that mean he doesn't get credit for the end result?

I agree. And they didn't.

If they had a good movie, why throw another 50 mil at it at risk of making it potentially worse? It's hard to make a good movie. Leave well enough alone.

Anyway, we won't know the truth until the next generation grows up and tells us what we don't know and only they could.

End result is all that matters.

Don't care how they got there.

I much rather enjoy this bad movie than have to suffer thru 99.9% of Oscar winners.

Thank you Disney for buying SW from that disgruntled lazy director.

At least Gareth gets off his chair while directing lol.

WB was so happy with the dailies of the first Matrix that they voluntarily increased the budget so that the Wachowskis could make it even better. The Russos had a good thing going with The Winter Soldier but after The Avengers Disney increased the budget. So obviously there's a precedent.

Now of course the devil's advocate is "but how do we know that was the case with Rogue One? How do we know they were improving a good movie and not salvaging a bad one?" Obviously we'll never know. But I think that movies that were truly mishandled can never fully hide that fact, no matter how much money gets added or who steps in and takes over. Rogue One was just too good in the end (IMO) for that to have conceivably been the case. I could see reshoots making a poorly made film tolerable but making it good or great? Too much of a stretch for me.

Did anyone hear about they originally wanted to add a scene were Vader visited Padme's grave. That would've been interesting.

I too shall resurrect this post of Jye's

Alternate Aliens, released but not needed.
Alternate T2, released but not needed.

Both needed.

Aliens SE is a great deal superior to the theatrical IMO, a lot more emotional oomph.
T2 SE isn't necessarily better (from what I can recall, haven't seen the theatrical in years) but it has some worthwhile and interesting extra stuff

I think what I was trying to get at was that Aliens and T2 theatrical were still solid good films at their core.

They weren't saved by their extended cuts.

:lol :lol :lol

It would be. But then again that means that anakin went to see her grave. Death Vader killed anakin and his past.

It's not better, it's the same stuff, but the ending is definitely something I can end the franchise with, and I can peacefully ignore Arnold making a fool of himself in the sequels.
