So to the many prequel deniers round these parts, how many of you only have a problem with the filmmaking - directing, acting, CGI etc - but are willing to embrace the characters and situations?

Someone made the point recently that ESB was the last movie to capture the spirit of SW while giving us something new. RO and TFA may be evidence that you can't recapture that spirit without heavily referencing the OT, particularly ANH.

I can never embrace Kung-fu Yoda. Or special-blood Jedis. Or midriff teen Queen tied to a pole. Or...

Don't forget Bad Kirk, with extra-heavy makeup and dim lighting...

PT has way to many cringe moment in the story, characters and plot......it was not the cgi and acting.

The overall arc didn't need a story at all, we knew what happened to Vader. The only way this would have been a good trilogy was if all the above was done well......unfortunately it was not.

RO was totally uneeded as well...what it did was tell the story with interesting characters, good acting and special effects. The story was pretty standard...which is why RO for me, will never reach OT levels.

Nicole Kidman > Kim Basinger > Michelle Pfeiffer > Marion Cotillard > Anne Hathaway > Katie Holmes > Elle Macpherson >Maggie Gylenhall

I approve of this list order....I MIGHT put Pfeiffer ahead of Basinger though....

Tell that to Gareth Edwards and JJ Abrams. I don't care what the corporate entity that owns the IP says is canon. I only care what the directors had in mind. George, Kershner, and Marquand had none of the prequels in mind when directing the OT because they didn't exist. Abrams clearly made TFA as if the PT didn't exist. Other than Jimmy Smits RO has no other link to the PT (Mon Mothma never appeared in any complete version of the films) and in fact contradicts them moreso than not.

So feel free to adhere to the "company line," but I'll stick to what the films themselves say. :D

Like ESB and ROTJ?

I honestly forgot why I quoted this and what comment I was going to make on it........got sidetracked reading posts.... :D

Yep, Batman retired to Italy after failing to get rid of a bomb on a dock in his early years.

but you do have to watch out for shaks in the Mediterranean though....

I wanted to leave the theatre when Yoda flew the first time I saw that pos....I am 100% ok with midriff teen queens of the PT....plus she was chained to a column, it sounds cooler saying 'chained' vs. 'tied'.....gives you that Frazetta-esque princess imagery when you mention chains, columns and midriffs...:D

The only 2 characters I would love to see expanded in the movie would be a flashback to Chirrut and Baze meeting each other.

Yes they were interesting ones for sure. I found myself liking Cassian, would be interesting to see some of his back story...

Someone in RO needed an Iron Man 1 Yinsen arc.

But Cassian remaining an enigma served him well.

Maybe while the nuclear blast was coming towards him he thinks of his family?

Would have been a great time for a Macgruber line of dialogue before the blast engulfs them, "Hey Jyn, did I ever tell you about the time me and my buddy both did this ..."

Pole? is that what you Aussies call them now... :lol

Speaking of which, what a grump Portman has developed into as she got older.

She was always kinda prissy. Youth forgives all :lol

I thought it was way better than Return of the Jedi. For me the Lucas rot started setting in the minute the ewoks turned up.

She showed enough flesh to keep a teenager horny, not enough to satisfy the perversions of a 30-year old man :lol

Absolutely loved Rogue One! I was not expecting all of the characters to die but was pleasantly surprised.
I gotta put this at number 4 in my all time fav star wars list

1. Revenge of the Sith
2. Attack of the Clones
3. The Phantom Menace
4. Rogue One
5. A New Hope
6. The Empire Strikes Back
7. Return of the Jedi
8. The Force Awakens

(was born in 1994 so I prefer the prequels)
