Dammit, now i gotta plan along, honestly i never got the hate for Lucas, he takes something he created from stuff he grew up with and every body destroys him and hates him for PT, call me crazy im like one of the few who loves the PT my favorite being ROTS, but then again i just a fan of SW from film only.

Okay one last thing. Admiral Thrawn. Does the fact that Rebels features a blue Imperial Officer named Thrawn irrevocably link that series (and therefore the entire canon saga) to Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire?" Nope, it's a parallel character introduced to throw a bone to fans of a book series that has been retconned out of existence. That's how I see Jimmy Smits and Saw Gerrera. Light fan service to an otherwise beleaguered group, nothing more.

In 99 the first movie should've been E7 with the much younger OT cast mixed with flashbacks to Anakin/Clone Wars.

The threat should've been the Dagobah cave creating an evil Luke clone.

The secret being buried in Anakin's fall to the darkside.

Flashbacks would've been awesome, no overkill, just enough to see major events.

They could have done the Dark Empire story. That was pretty cool. And interestingly enough features Leia touching a lightsaber and instantly getting visions of Luke ruling the Empire. And it wasn't even his saber! It was just a random one given to her...by an old Jedi lady. So people can think that Rey's visions in TFA were lame but the concept actually originated many years prior.

Ashoka is in the CW cartoon, she is anakin's apprentice, anakin is in the PT, she also is in rebels, rebels has Saw which is directly linked to RO, which is directly linked the OT.

It's not "throwing a bone", they made it clear they'd be drawing on "Legends" material for the canon. He's one of the strongest EU characters.

Prequel fans are legion. You've been hanging in this echo chamber too long!

Be my guest. It's much easier to ignore the prequels if you stick with the new films. But you also have to disregard Rebels and Clone Wars.

Speaking of the new canon, here's Vader returning to Geonosis to assemble his own personal droid army:

In his ROTJ sideshow gear. I find it really hard to take the comics seriously. I've been reading them, and sort of enjoy them. But it's kind of impossible to take seriously as canon.

This is why my own personal canon is only from the 70s, STAR WARS and the Holiday Special. No more, no less.

I dare you to sit thru it all today.

I just did a few weeks back with my kids. :yess: Technically they played on their tablets and occasionally glanced at what was going on to comment how weird it was from time to time but at least they were in the same room. Carrie singing about everyone coming together to celebrate life at the end was both sweet and sad considering recent events.

A friend recently told me it was impossible to sit thru. Impossible. You must have balls of steel.

I remember how bad it was in 78. I can't imagine how it plays today. Lumpie. The weird animated 3PO and Han. Glam-Pilot Luke, and Maude.... I mean, Maude. Come on. Need I say more?

The hardest part is the first 15 minutes or so of unsubtitled wookiee speak between Lumpy, Chewie's wife, and that horrifying grandfather who looked like he'd be more at home in a crate in "Creepshow."

It is odd, just so very, very odd. But charming in its own random way. Still quite the chore to watch from beginning to end but I decided to power through it last month in honor of Carrie. Some of the cantina aliens are actually more detailed than what appeared in ANH which was kind of cool.

And Lucas even said in an interview he'd have done something similar to DE for the ST.
