Because the Rebel fleet would have been wiped out in about 11 seconds if that was waiting for them at Scarif.
Looks freaking awesome though.I'm right there with you. I feel kind of like Han myself in handing off SW to the next generation. My kids love Rey and Kylo (though Vader's rampage in RO is one of their favorite scenes in any SW film) and at first I was tempted to keep pushing the OT but then thought nah, let them have their new SW films the way I did as a kid. They only watch (and prefer) the Harmy OT and never the SE's so at least I've done my part in that regard.
And if it's ever announced that Mark and Daisy are doing combo pics at a future Celebration I don't think I could resist having my daughter and I get a pick with them, no matter the cost. It'd just be too perfect.

I had a hard enough time dealing with Carrie's passing I will be a mess when he goes.

Yeah you do. I'm glad I met him at CVI. He was really pleasant and chatty with my wife and I. A great memory and I've got his personalized autograph photo framed on my wall. I met Carrie while she was walking across the convention floor which was great but I do wish I had gone the distance to do a photo and/or autograph.

It's beautiful and ominous. But probably didn't make the cut because there's no "door" gag that must be opened to give the finale its "urgency".
This may be well understood by hardcore Star Wars geeks, but was news to me, though it makes a lot of sense considering where Disney is and what they're trying to do:

So what exactly was news to you? That LFL has a SW story group? That today is May the 4th? That they are planning new movies...?
