That relationship with Piccolo was one of the reasons why I love it so much. There's just so much good stuff like that. Piccolo slicing Babidi in half was also fantastic....or at least would have been if Babidi died.

Man I really want a Daburra figure now. I'd get every villian and line them up behind him and have him in front leading an army of Hell against the Z fighters. Climatic sword fight between Gohan and Daburra with a Z sword, anyone?

Well, nothing in the entire Dragon Ball saga really makes any sense if you think about it. There are things contradicting each other all the time. Having Dabura turn "good" is just simple irony, lol.

I thought it was pretty funny when that happened. Hell would be heaven for a Demon so we'll put him in heaven. That'll learn him.

Congrats bro, I just bought one also bro and its on the way cant wait!! How much did u pay?

Hmm... it's just as I had speculated. The Irwin space pod is much too small for the 6" scaled Figuarts. I personally would recommend the Kuji space pod, it is much more detailed and accurate to the anime art. It might even be cheaper than an Irwin pod these days! I can certainly see a hulking Figuarts scaled Napa fitting inside of a Kuji pod, not so much the Irwin pod.

I don't necessarily agree. DB/Z can be whacky but a lot of it does make sense basically imo. Some physics clearly might not, or relative power levels of attacks etc.
But in terms of character motivation most stuff is quite solid imo. But with dabura nd babidi it just makes no sense to me that the master-servant role wasn't reversed, with bibidi being some wizard dabura enslaved to make buu, the ultimate demon, then they all got defeated and now dabura escapes with the help of babidi and they re-awaken buu. It's babidi of whom Id understand kinda just wanting to have friends. And its the devil, master of evil, who always wants to conquer "heaven".

Yet Toriyama went for the exact opposite.XD It seems so counter-intuitive to me. This simple switch would've made so much difference.

Hmm well, Vegeta can fit inside, you just have to position his legs accurately so he's comfortable, lol.

But yeah, I too considered getting the Kuji Space Pod. I might just purchase it so I can compare the two accurately.

So I just opened my second or third( cant remember if I have one more in storage) sdcc piccolo and his neck looks terrible, the shading is so dark it sticks out like a sore thumb. I guess this will be used for a custom -____-

I also took the best looking parts from the on I got on display and combined to make the best looking piccolo lol

Make him into Nail

How far are you on finishing Gogeta? Also, are you working on any other customs? I really want to see them!
Nail of course is my first choice! 'unless I change my mind and do a super boo similar to eonzone's but a different form.

as for gogeta im actually adding the sash as we speak and ill wait for it to dry over night, so I can finish painting it and give him one last touch up.

so weird how you can never see the orange shading on the hair. I think its time to use a real camera instead of my cell phone lol

Cool! I'm looking forward to seeing it! Why do you choose orange shading over other colors? I'm just curious, because I don't paint.

I like to keep them as close to the official Bandai line as I can, so since vegeta has some orange shading on his hair mixed with yellow and white I do it to the customs so they look like they came from the same place. I could technically do them more accurate to the show but then they wouldn't look as nice with the Bandai one. thats why sdcc gokus hair stands out so much, and the regular gokus hair stands out as well. one having way too much orange and the other one being some plain yellow lol. Out of all the saiyan's hair trunks has the perfect mix of orange yellow and white at the tips.

Likewise; the only appeal the SDCC Goku has for me is the fact that it's limited edition. Otherwise the standard release is fine by me.

Those are some excellent-looking customs tho! Can't wait to see the final result.

This was the one aspect of collecting action figures that I have always hated. Chase figures, exclusive releases, limited edition, etc. I just want to get the figures of characters that I like in the version I think best represents them IMO.

Limited editions and the like, only sought to make that goal difficult and more expensive than I want. I have a SDCC Piccolo and Gohan, and I don't value them anymore than my other DBZ figuarts, I would have been happy with the first releases to be honest, but those were unavailable.

I still hate that I paid so much for Piccolo because he should have been a common figure. The only appeal this line has to me above other lines is that they are awesome super-poseable DBZ figures that are very well detailed, I couldn't care any less about their rarity.

I would enjoy this hobby much more if I could just walk to a local Toy"r"Us and just pick one up when ever I felt like it without the concern of them running out of the one I'm looking for. (before anyone passes judgment on me as a collector, know that I've been collecting action figures since Toybiz X-men and Spider-man *before "Marvel Legends"*)

I'm with both of you! I have the SDCC Gohan, but would have been happy with the first release. I actually really like the pastel like coloring of the original versions. I'm not into that competitive stuff either.

I saw the pics of the new 2014 Carnage Marvel Legends and remembered seeing the Spider-man Classics version in the Target aisle. That Hobgoblin figure looked so darn cool!

I can see you're point and a part of me wish it were so, but on the other hand I do like special figures. The thing is I'm annoyed that sdcc exclusives aren't special figures. They're normal versions (or they should be). I'd like it much more if the sdcc ex's would actually be special versions or characters. I do like it that these are more valuable than say simple 6" action figures that you can buy hordes of and sometimes go as low as 10 a pop, but I do want them to stop asking exclusive prices for versions that should be common ones. Characters like Shenron or Broli should be ex's imo. Or special versions like battle damaged ones or something. The common appearances of main characters should just be readily available at the lowest price point possible. Like the upcoming Goku or saiyan saga Vegeta for instance.

However, this line remains a prestigious one and that's kinda what I like about it, every one I buy feels like a genuine valuable piece. I wouldn't want this to become like ML's, although I can of course understand why some miss a line like that for DBZ.

So I'm kinda trying to find a reasonable middle ground: I do want people to have access to the favourites, but I also genuinely like a difference in rarity and/or specialness. Somehow that just adds to the collecting thrill for me. E.g. Pokemon would be boring if legendaries were as available as rattatas.

But yeah normal versions as repaint exclusives should really, really stop, that I agree with totally. Guess that's just our bad luck having the anime as our point of reference, instead of the original manga.

Ive said it before, but SDCC exclusive characters is a big no-no in my book; repaints you can at least pass on if they get too pricey, but a figure you can ONLY get at an event thats only on for a few days and costs a fortune to get to etc would make it almost impossible for collectors outside USA to get them, give the guaranteed inflation scammers would add to it as its a figure only a few could ever have.

I get the want for figures that only a select few can have, I do, but you have to think of the impact that would have on the line, I know I would stop collecting if I couldnt get a figure, as a completionist, the day I miss out I may as well stop altogether.

I disagree that you can pass on repaints. In the case f piccolo specifically, his manga coloured version is not piccolo to me. Not having the familiar appearance of my favourite character, that's what could make me stop collecting (and it has, by coincidence ML's among other things, because those aholes refuse to make jim lee cyclops).

I find the 'completionist or not collect at all' stance really weird. I just don't get that, at all. I get wanting to be a completionist obviously, but I don't get dropping the whole thing if you miss one. It seems to imply you only care about checking off a list instead of having your favourite characters embodied on your shelf...? I'm not saying that's the case, but if it isn't, how could you part with them just because you don't have a character you might not even care much about? That makes no sense to me whatsoever. Also, what's the fun in being a completionist if there's nothing hard to get? Isn't the effort in completing the whole point of being a completionist? Having 'piece-de-resistance's so to speak?

I'd like Sdcc ex's to be either special versions (which mostly boils down to battle damaged versions) or special impressive side characters. No more main common appearance characters for an exclusive price, of all things stated, that's what sucks the most imo.
