hasbro and shfiguarts have different market, they are not try topped each other

Hasbro : simple cheap toys, a mainstream will buy. A present for kids that they can throw or break it

Shfiguarts : an expensive toys, borderline toys and display piece. For collectors or SW hardcore fans that want quality piece

:exactly: However, I think the price point give or take for Figuarts for what you get is worth it.

Hasbro needs to cut the price in half. Definitely not worth $20 even with for kids:lecture

My guess is that a huge part of why the Black Series does so well is because the majority of the consumers that buy it aren't aware that there are better options or just don't care/have low standards (kids) and are happy with that level of quality. I'm sure there are buyers that just want memorabilia and BS is an affordable price point for them. I don't think it hurts to have it exist on the market as it satisfies certain audiences. Some folks go to Walmart for sneakers and some folks line up at boutiques for Jordans.

When I was a kid, I was stoked about getting the old Hasbro Phantom Menace figures in '99 and the quality is atrocious. I still have them. Are they worth anything nowadays?

As an aside, if anyone knows if anywhere is still taking PO's for SHF Darth Maul or if it ever goes back up on HLJ or Amiami, Holla!

No. They are worthless. The Hasbro Force Awakens figures will likely be worthless as well. The non-action figure TFA merchandise will definitely be worthless, probably by this time next year. It is still fun to be a part of the experience though.

Any mass market product such as Hasbro will be mostly worthless except for any under-produced figure, e.g. Finn will always be worthless; FO Stormtroopers maybe not. On the other hand Figuarts, Hot Toys, and SSC stuff should at least hold or increase in value.

This sounds like bad news guys.

HEADS UP FOLKS!! I have received some feedback regarding the restrictions imposed on Bandai from selling their Star Wars kits outside Japan. Apparently the directive and pressure is from Disney themselves, and not from Revell or any other party as indicated from other forums and posts. In fact, Disney may be beginning to apply pressure on other Japanese Manufacturers involved with Star Wars merchandises to restrict their sales to only within the country, and may include other items such as PVC figures, statues, toys, etc etc. Hence depending on the company's agreement with Disney, we can expect more stuff to get pulled out of the overseas market later. I can't reveal my source due to legal reasons but I can tell you they are dependable - and very worried about their sales and profit margins. In the event this rule is applied nationwide (since I still see a few shops selling them) the only option is to get Kit Hunters from Japan to get them for you. Look for my notes section to see who these people are. If you are residing in Japan and not affiliated with any shops there but are willing to help, please let me know and I'll include your contacts there.

UPDATE: Apparently I just found out the original contract between some of these manufacturers and Disney did state that the merchandise were indeed for sales within Japan only. Somehow these got through to online shops that didn't know about this rule. So now we have a lot of very unhappy vendors there as well as very unhappy fans outside Japan.

UPDATE II : I have been asked to list down all the effected merchandises. Unfortunately I don't have a list given to me. The only ones I know for sure were the Bandai kits since I am more into model kits. But if you were to look at Hobby Search's Japanese site and compare it to the English site, you can already see some of the things not model kits related there (at the Japanese site) missing from the English site. As for other brands like SH- Figuarts, Kotobukiya, etc etc, I have no idea if they too will be effected. I was only told Disney is applying some pressure to have these Japanese Manufacturers comply with their agreement.

Man, I want that Maul. Picked up Jedi Luke off Amazon.

Not any specifics in that post with regards to SH Figuarts. I would assume business as usual.

All this means is we may have to pay extra to import the figures from Japan if Disney decides to enforce regional licensing rules, or worse case, buy them off eBay. Disney can't stop these products from leaving Asia, don't know why they bother. Hopefully nothing changes for figuarts; aren't Masterpiece Transformers also not supposed to sold outside Japan as well? Yet we have been able to import them for years now without issue.

It'll suck, but there's no stopping Ebay. And while the prices will be higher, there is a ceiling for this kind of product provided it isn't an exclusive. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

Thanks for that. Now got Maul, Obi-Wan and Vader on order. Think I'll skip Jedi Luke and wait for the inevitable Bespin version. Gutted I missed Kylo, hopefully somewhere will secure some more soon.

Been very impressed by the Power Rangers Figuarts and since there's no way I can afford to get into Hot Toys Star Wars (and have had enough Hasbro's dropping standards) these seem like a good compromise.

That would suck big time if those restrictions were to happen. Yes we would have to pay extra but it could potentially be almost 3x higher because sellers would know most collectors would overpay for these. I bet Hasbro has been complaining to Disney ever since Bandai released pics of their TFA line. They don't want to be driven by competition to make the best figures possible.:gah:

If resellers have the audacity to charge triple I'll just buy the Hot Toys.
