That's really unfortunate. But, GITS was never big in the States, and it always had a niche following, even among anime watchers . I think the movie might pull some better box office numbers in Asia.

I certainly hope so but man what a titanic flop- so much for a live action Akira or Macross...

Yeah, it blows. Those are two I would've really liked to have seen, myself. I know most people don't like live-action adaptations, but I don't mind them if they're done somewhat well (the RE movies, as crappy as they are, are a guilty pleasure for me ).

I don't know why they adapted Gits so early on. They should of made a faithful version of Dbz, pokemon ,naruto or sailor moon. Those are stories people and the GA know of and then you can get that anime movie train going. So many great films can be made from anime.
