Again, I'm not saying Obama is Hitler, I'm just noting the similarities.

There are a lot of disillusioned Americans pissed off at the rich banks and wall street execs and CEO's. Obama is promising us change and to bring us out of our current economic slump, at the expense of small business owners and those who work hard for their money, in addition to the few crooked unethical super-rich businessmen.

That's interesting. I think the Family Guy people thought about this and tried to spin it in another way. However, it just doesn't seem as appropriate.

To quote Rorschach "....they had a choice, all of them. They could have followed in the footsteps of good men like my father, or president Truman. Decent men, who believed in a day's work for a day's pay. Instead they followed the droppings of lechers and communists and didn't realize that the trail led over a precipice until it was too late. Don't tell me they didn't have a choice. Now the whole world stands on the brink, staring down into bloody hell, all those liberals and intellectuals and smooth-talkers....and all of a sudden nobody can think of anything to say."

I think in ten years this will be prophetic....

Figured the josh would have something to say with my freedom of speech.

What I stated was merely an observation based upon similarities. Where's the hate in that?

You have the right to say it but I think it says something about you.

You compared him to Hitler who is one of the worst people ever born on this planet. A man who unless you where white and certain types of whites would kill you or have people kill you. They both attract or attracted large crowds and that to me starts the tie in I think you where trying to make.

And this is an absolutely ludicrous resolution to the country's problems.

That was a joke. One that did not try to tie someone to a horrible human being.

I interpret both statements as "Take from those that work for it and give to those who don't."

The only one that might have some taking from are people making over 250k a year. How many of us here make that?

I'm curious as to how some of you that hate Obama's policies want to help people with the cost of health care, education, MC, and especially the lower class. How do you think we should help limit the loopholes so the rich pay their fair share and quit finding every way to get around things while people like my folks have to help carry things more than them?

Call it what you want but I feel we have a duty to help take care of those that are having a hell of a time taking care of themselves or can't. Yes, there are people who just can't no matter what. People will take advantage of this and I know that but in the end I'd rather help those that truly can't and risk those who will do wrong.

Man, I really need to finish watchmen. Missed it in my youth, and styupidly put it down recently and set it aside.

That's a great quote by the way.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I already sent my vote in.

Truman did believe in that but he also believed in helping those who needed it and making those paying their fair share. Trust me living in Missouri I've gotten a chance to learn quite a bit about the man.

:slap Bro...you are seriously reaching...even my McCain-voting friends laugh at the comparisson. It is not interesting, it is hate.

And I ask again...doesn't Palin draw large crowds and preach "change" and "maverick" and "shake things up"??

My comparison to hitler stopped immediately after the observation that both men have/had the power to gain a following of a populace that feels duped and disenfranchised.

That was a joke. One that did not try to tie someone to a horrible human being.
see statement about about tie-in/comparison to hitler. I in NO way admire or support hitler's atrocious acts against humanity.

I think what people aren't realizing is that once Obama taxes this group of people, and then realizes it's still not enough money to solve the nation's problems, he is going to have to tax the next group of people on the next rung of the ladder. Go down one or two rungs, and there I am. I didn't go to school and study my ASS off to get a well paying job while others thought it would be more fun to slack off and party. And now I'm supposed to share my hard work and the fruits of that hard work with people that choose to sit at home and collect hand outs?

simple. flat tax for all. tax EVERYONE 33% (I think that's what I'm paying about now), including big business. Except, when big businesses can run their businesses elsewhere due to lower operating taxes, they will leave the US and build elsewhere, which is what is happening, which is why they receive some tax break and McCain is supprting tax breaks for the only organizations that can get our economy back on it's feet. You start taxing them more, they will either leave, or cutting back benefits of their employees, cut back hiring, and pass increased costs to us the consumers.

Call it what you want but I feel we have a duty to help take care of those that are having a hell of a time taking care of themselves or can't. Yes, there are people who just can't no matter what. Yes, we should. I will gladly help to pay for the helpless, disabled, elderly, mentally and physically challenged. But there are a HELL of a lot more people than just that small group taking advantage of that generosity and if you increase the handouts, there will be even more undeserving hands being extended.

The similarity is dissimilar when you look at what the two are selling who they are selling it to. I am not saying that I agree with any of it; however, when examined in detail the Hitler/McCain comparison doesn't ring quite as true. First of all, Palin isn't running for President. Second of all, Hitler was a socialist which draws a stronger comparison to Obama. Third, Obama crowds are in larger number composed with similar zeal. Obama speaks to the poor and to those who want something for nothing, the same with Hitler. Back then, they were known as Jews. Today, they are known as the upper class (ie those who make more than 250K a year). Now I am not calling Obama Hitler or anything else. Hitler was a man of hate. Despite the fact that I dislike Obama, I do believe that thinks is doing good and just. I just strongly disagree with his policies.

I would totally disagree based on that post and your wonderful comparison of Obama to Osama Bin Laden. Sorry Mesa but I think you may be showing who you REALLY are.

Of course thats not gonna be just enough its going to take some fixing in other areas. I believe he will do this. I went to school as well and studied my ass off as well and I'd guess I make less than you. Why should people making more than me continue to find loop hole after loop hole and keep more of their money than they should be? IMO thats as bad.

Flat taxes don't work. Its been proven in several studies that it doesn't. Why should I pay the same % as someone making 3,4,5,6,7, etc times more than me. I make roughly 40k dollars a year teaching so I'm sorry someone that makes more than I do should pay a bigger percentage of their income to taxes than I do. They've been leaving the US during a Republican administration and except the last two years a Republican held Congress the last 16 years. I doubt McCain is the man to fix that issue.

Yes, we should. I will gladly help to pay for the helpless, disabled, elderly, mentally and physically challenged. There are a lot. However, its something that I think you have to risk to help those that can't or need it for whatever reason.

What about the rest of those? I'm curious as to how you plan to fix those.

Truman did believe in that but he also believed in helping those who needed it and making those paying their fair share. Trust me living in Missouri I've gotten a chance to learn quite a bit about the man.

I don't think those were the domestic policies that he had in mind, especially in context with what else was said. Truman did believe in hard work because he was fighting his own economic issues in a newly peace time economic climate. He was a hard hitting man. He did drop the bomb. He did stand up to communism (starting the cold war), and did threaten to draft striking workers into the military if they didn't go back to work.

This thread sickens me in the same way that effigy sickens me.... I love how people try to put the candidates into nice neat packages, whether it be "Socialist" or "Terrorist" or "Old" or "incompetent"....

90% of these political threads are started by the SSF Right Reich Group, and they use them as a spinning off point to attack Obama as a candidate and everything he plans to do with this country. So far that they basically label him a communist or nazi.

You guys have slipped so far that I can hardly speak to many of you without throwing up in my mouth. Seriously guys, can't you just cast your vote for McCain and shut your traps for a few weeks... wait for the results?

You have your social group... share you intense hatred and extreme ideals within that group and stop spilling it over into the forum.

I really tried to be considerate and moderate in my approach at the beginning of this election, but over these past few weeks I've really begun to despise how it's made people act....

I'll get off my soap box now...

Hold the phone. I am a bit confused. I don't think the Jews wanted something for nothing...and I don't think the upper class wants something for nothing. That is what the above quote seems to say. But if you are saying that an entire race that was persecuted, murdered, for nothing other than their race is eerily similar to Obama wanting to tax those making $250,000 or more a year? Then I think you may have just found why the comparisson falls flat.

The Jews=The upper class of today?

Now I am not calling Obama Hitler or anything else. Hitler was a man of hate. Despite the fact that I dislike Obama, I do believe that thinks is doing good and just. I just strongly disagree with his policies.

Goodunya, bro. I still think there is NO comparisson to be made though, so there :D

Its funny hearing the republicans talk about the DOOM the Obama admin will bring..

Havnt we allready suffered enough DOOM under the worst Admin ever over the past 8 years?..

I suppose when things brighten up you'll say its the trickle down from the Bush admin..

Retarded.

Thanks DA. I know how you feel, and it's a good thing it was said. I am all for locking all political threads, I liked it better when we could talk about toys without knowing each other's beliefs. It is just so intense sometimes. Yet I keep coming back lol...The two topics that drive friends and family apart will always be politics and religion.

I'm not even going to touch that. You obviously missed the analogy of both people being able to gain the support of a large group of people who wanted to blame their problems on something and someone else who were in a better financial situation.

Don't try and put words in my mouth or paint me a racist simply cause I pointed out some parallels between each person. I won't comment on this issue anymore for the night before it gets completely out of hand.
