US atheists offer pet rescue after judgment day
WASHINGTON (AFP) – When judgment day comes -- which some US Christian fundamentalists insist will happen on Saturday -- have you thought about what you're going to do with the family dog and cat?

In 26 US states, you could have them rescued and adopted by enterprising atheists who have set up a business to care for the animal companions of any Christians who are selected to go to heaven when Jesus Christ comes back.

"You've committed your life to Jesus. You know you're saved. But when the Rapture comes, what's to become of your loving pets who are left behind?" Eternal Earth-Bound Pets says on its website, offering to "take that burden off your mind."

The post-doomsday pet rescue service already has 259 clients, who have paid $135 for the first pet and $20 for each additional pet at the same address, to ensure the faithful animal companions are looked after and loved even when their Christian owners have gone to the other side.

All the rescuers are sworn atheists, which means they will definitely be left behind on Earth, ready to rescue pets after the Rapture, which one US Christian fundamentalist group has penciled for Saturday.

When judgment day happens, Eternal Earth-Bound Pets co-founder Bart Centre "will notify all of our rescuers to go into action and they will drive to the homes of anyone who's signed a contract with us, pick up their pets and take them home and adopt them as their own, keeping them happy and healthy for the rest of their lives.

"This will happen only if and when the Rapture happens. So we do not expect to have to do anything on Saturday," Centre told AFP.

Contracts are good for 10 years, just in case the Mayan calendar prophesy, which predicts the world will end in December next year, comes true.

Almost $35,000 paid to this :google

This is easily the best part :

"This will happen only if and when the Rapture happens. So we do not expect to have to do anything on Saturday," Centre told AFP.

Brilliant. So doing this for 2012.

Maybe a similar plan should be made for people's sideshow collections. Personally I'll adopt any collections left behind for free just for the sake of preservation.

I believe we'll know it's happening when "Mama Said Knock You Out" begins to miraculously play on a sound systems.

I still think its funny that the "members" of the "church" will not be making themselves available for comment on Saturday. They need "personal" time to "reflect". :lol

Even funnier will be their "true" believers that wake up on Sunday and think they are going to hell because they are still on Earth. :rotfl

The thing I really don't understand about all this is the need to put up billboards and stand on street corners announcing the thing. What's the point of that? If believers think the rapture is Saturday, then they get "raptured" whether they stand on the corner like a crazy person or not. :dunno

It's not like a non-believer is going to see you acting crazy and say "crap, I totally believe now."

I think part of their requirement to enter heaven is to warn people about it. That's why they left jobs, families, ect., to take up this useless campaign.

Right, they are taking the whole apostle route with it. Jesus told them to leave their worldly possessions behind and follow him as well as part of the Christian doctorine preaches that they spread the word of God.

The billboards, street corners thing just checks that box right before.

It would be funny to go to a Church on early Saturday morning and leave my car running, stopped in the middle of the road as if I vanished out of it and see how they react.

:goodpost:

I'm going to dig through my closet and leave old clothes and shoes lying around sidewalks and streets.

Will Jesus be tweeting when the Rapture starts?

The Lord only does Facebook.

I'm going to hell for this post, I know it. :(

It states very clearly in the Bible that know one will know the date or time of the rapture or the second coming, so people who call themselves Christians and set dates or predictions are going against God's word. I don't know what motivates people to do this, and others to follow them blindly...that's their business and I don't judge. Although it's very interesting that when someone called this "prophet's" radio show and asked if the world doesn't end on the 21st, will he be returning donations made to him by his followers, he got very upset and would not answer the question. (he made a similar prediction in 1994 that obviously proved wrong) Either way, the end is not coming this Saturday...and there are going to be many dissillusioned people standing around wondering why they emptied their bank accounts anticipating a doomsday prediction from a false prophet.

^^^^ yeah l heard all this on the Joy Behar show. what ever, these religious people are dumb. they will realize it sunday morning when there is no giant world earthquake like they are saying will happen. then they will shut up and go away. then they will pop up again and start preaching to us when the 2012 date is near.

I actually follow Jesus on Twitter, he is hilarious.

I read about that. He claims that his predictions in the 90s was a prediction of the end of "The Church Age", the time period in which people could still be saved. So believe it or not he still believes not only that he was right but that it is proof of him being right.
