Yes but for 400 it was Gallery wrapped ready for the wall...it also looks like a real painting no glass involved...Its also bigger...plus has a more regal look...and there is something special about having a painting/canvas piece versus framed paper...

can it still be damaged by light and such? I would worry about dust too.

I've had this canvas Giclee L/E of only 12 for over 15 years...I use a very fine brush to dust and light doesnt affect it...Now if you kept this in direct sunlight or a very constant strong light source then maybe I would be leary...Otherwise I trust the modern higher end Giclee processes 100%

The protective coatings put on the Giclee are awesome..That canvas above also was over a salt water fish tank for over 6 years...the bottom of the frame was affected slightly due to the moist salts and air...but the canvas was totally protected...I either just dust or use clean cloth...If I use liquid its water only...no soap or detergents

I actually noticed his king of kings paper is bigger than the canvas. I don't know, I'm sure it looks cool, but the $400 gallery wrapped piece is too much compared to the paper for me when I have so many other pieces that need to be framed.

Framing is a ton of money if you want it done right...The Giclee Sauron canvas is almost 21 x 28 inches( just the image itself) while the paper one is 17 x 22 whole total size I believe...just make sure what you buy and frame is something you really want...Remember consider this as a piece of fine furniture for your home and should be personal...If you can say to yourself "yeah, I can look at that(Image and Frame job) every day for the rest of my life" then do it...otherwise it will be a mistake...everything in my home I have hanging on my wall I can look at for the rest of my life and be content with that

having the Sauron paper framed right, without overpriced matting would still be over $100 cheaper than the canvas. I have more expensive pieces then the Sauron that will be framed first. Right now, it's sitting in a portfolio. I plan on having Sauron, King of Kings and the future Balrog all framed next to each other on a wall one day. It's a good thing they don't sell out fast like Mondo stuff.

Canvas is about old world presentaion...Gallery wrap ready to hang is just a more modern form of it...Presentation in regards to paper is costly to be done right...paper is fantastic when you have autographs, remarques, and memorabelia items in the framing...The Sauron Paper print framing is not as costly say if the piece was 3 ft tall instead of 22 inches too...size does matter when it comes to cost in framing...usually.....Unless the paper print has extras and the framing done awesome Canvas with a nice frame blows it out of the water every time...plus there is always the question asked" Did you paint that?"..."WoW, is that a real painting?", etc, etc.

Good question. I asked for extra insurance for my collection, but they make it such a pain in the a** and I can't remember what it cost...so I passed. I should probably revisit the idea due to my collection growing.

I'd like to hear from other collectors here on this insurance question. If there is already a thread for this would someone post a link?

just for the paperwork they wanted and to have the appraisals(that would have cost me a fortune) for secondary market values...basically a time consuming fortune...so no insurance...My insurance is me,family and my guard dog

You guys need to invest in collectinsure.com. Covers damage both ways in the mail providing you use certain types of signature confirmation and pays out claims reasonably. You only have to list items with a value greater than 5000 dollars. Also if you have access to USAA products I recommend their fine art insurance because it is dirt cheap. Now this does not cover brick-a-brac collectibles but if you have anything really rare it is pennies on the dollar. I use it for bronze statues that can be considered fine art as well as other antiques. With this product I actually prefer that they require a listing.

I utilize this insurance as well for some of my original comic art.

yes just to clarify, the price is based on the dollar amount. Most statue collections won't need any listed items, just add up the value and pay the premium.

That's pretty good in that I don't think it'll be sold out prior to getting some in hand production pictures to base a purchasing decision on.
