Hey guys I am currently away for the weekend, i sneaked away to check the forum, I will check the neca page next then will be offline for a few days. IM I am not sure where exactly I found it, I did a search for "Neca Planet of the Apes news." Also add updates in the search. I hope this helps. If you can't find it by the next time I log on I will do a more complete search for you to locate it. I quoted someone that seemed to have conducted an interview with Neca while at the Comic Con. See you all soon. Enjoy your weekend.

I just found this little tidbit regarding the new Neca line. I know a lot is already old news but there is an implication that these figures will indeed be 6"-7" scale. Unfortunately we will have to wait many more months before we even see a prototype of whats to come.

"NECA has acquired the Planet of the Apes license. This will include both the old and new films. Unlike the DC and Mavel 6" figure licenses, which are owned by Mattel and Hasbro, NECA won't be limited to doing just 1/4 scale figures, so expect at full line of 6"-7" figures to be rolling out some time next year.

No word was given on the possibility of a Astronaut Taylor figure just yet. It seemed that the initial focus would be on the various Apes."

Thanks for posting the update.

I have a feeling its going to be a long time before we see any prototype pictures from the line.

And it will be interesting to see if they secure Heston's likeness.Without both Heston and Franciscus estates playing ball, this looks like it just maybe an ALL APE figure line.

And maybe a mutant or two.

Well what about some savage humans for the gorillas to hunt?

Sorry IM, I was referring to the 6-7" line that Neca might do. 6" for the simians and 7" for astronauts and savage humans. I bet they will even make a stuffed museum human, or a lobotomized Landon. I have confidence that Neca will not disappoint. I just picked up some of their Rocky figures and am blown away with what they are able to do. The detail is amazing. At this time the POTA license could not be in better hands.

Maybe... I just don't see them sculpting a nameless human savage and putting it up for $12-$15 dollars or how much ever NECA is charging for figures nowadays. A figure that screams "for completists only". Perhaps as part of a mulit-pack with a gorilla on horseback.

Medicom made quite a few vinyl POTA figures over ten years ago and they never got around to releasing any. Or any mutants for that matter.

I see the humans coming in a multi-pack. The scene when the three gorillas pose for a picture after the hunt, their faces are all very different.

regarding the Medicom figures, they lacked articulation, where the Neca ones will have over 20 points. That will surely help sales.

Yeah, what little articulation they did have was fairly useless anyway. I seem to remember that Slave Taylor and Nova had no articulation at all.

And BOY were they expensive! I remember paying between $30-$40 each for them originally on eBay... sometimes even more for the "rare" variations. It really hurt to see them at Suncoast stores at $10 each a year or so later. :horror:horror:horror

But Medicom is the company (with both their vinyl figure and Kubrick lines) that went the deepest into the POTA franchise providing Ape fans a rare opportunity to purchase a great Lawgiver statue, Lucius, General Aldo AND Urko, and all three of the Ape-O-Nauts. Hopefully NECA will top them.

Of course in terms of articulation and sculpting, NECA will DEFINITELY top them.

My biggest hope for the new line... to get all three tribunal orangutans sitting at their desk!:pray::pray:

An ape can dream, can't he?

I received my Hot Toys Red Skull yesterday and decided to introduce him to my gorillas. I am still anxiously awaiting my Star Spangled Captain America. Anyways here a little shot I came up with and wanted to share. Have a great day.
