I wonder if any of you have tried to customize the hair from the HT gorillas to make them more accurate to films...have you?...any pics?

I'm looking forward to hearing more about Ironman's ape hairing / fur project. I am thinking about making one more furry ape if I can find a sheet of the right kind of fur (I've written the eBay seller.)

Every time I do a custom project, I learn a little more. I hope I can get really good at this one day.

I'm thinking he might be more geared to being a gorilla, but then they're my faves!
My hairing process I saw posted over in the OSW and it is basicly making a guaze head piece, molded to the shape of the head you want to hair. It can then be removed, have hair applied and then replaced on the sculpt.

Very interesting pix!!...I'm so desperate about buying my first HT gorilla figure!!...but I'm short of money (just bought T-800 Arnold HT figure) and I guess will need to choose between Gorilla Soldier, Captain and Ursus...which one do you recomend me to buy first!??

Thanks Iron...Ursus have always been my priority...but now looking at the details on the soldiers they also are great...lots of accesories!!...but I guess Ursus is the one to have first...!

Well, actually its a personal choice. Ursus is a fave for me because he's from my favorite movie, got a great look and is a great speech giver.
However, if your more of an accessory guy the soldier is not a bad choice, nor is the sargeant if you are a TV series fan.
Hell, can ya tell i like the HT apes?

I know those are amazing!!...I either love the movies (my favorite is the first one -maybe because is the one I watched the most-) and I do also love the TV Series...I'm also buying them on DVD soon!!...I remember the great spanish dubbed version and is sad to know those DVDs are not dubbed in spanish!...

If I could buy only one HT ape, it would probably be Ursus. He just rocks my world. Plus, I am not fond of the HT gorilla sculpt, with their hee haw teeth. The clothing, accessories, superb...but the sculpt I am not in love with.

Thanks so much. I know exactly what you mean. I kept looking at the ears and was thinking chimp paint scheme. Then I look at the nose and think that needs a gorilla paint scheme.

I have started a couple more simians using a modified casting of that head and I think I'll try to modify one into a gorilla.

I wouldn’t mind selling a few of the castings like the one below. (That dang RTV is expensive.) That is assuming I’m not breaking any rules. (I didn’t sculpt it as you know.)I can also cast just the head. However, it definitely takes some modifications to fit the figure neck / body. I used the slow cure resin, but there are still little air bubbles and areas to fix.

On the Planet of the Apes and Beneath, I have never seen another horse with any color other than the dark chestnut brown. The lighter colored horses are found on the TV series--I believe Urko has a white one.

Well that's still not a bad price I guess since it was going near the $100 when it came out...well here in Canada anyways.

I concur, Ursus is the best of the lot when comparing HT gorillas. He at least has a helmet that is able to subdue the wild mane that tends to get out of control every once in a while, but please don't get me wrong, the soldier apes still rock. POMPIATO go with Ursus, you won't be disappointed.

Gates70I believe Ursus' horse was Dark Brown or Black. If I'm wrong the good clan here will set you straight.
