Landis is right about the film industry.When it comes to Japanese anime, most of those characters don't even look Japanese, imo....so I don't mind if they get a Western actor as long as they look like the character. I remember when Dragon Ball Z fans complained about a western actor playing Goku in the live action DBZ film, but to me, he looked just like Goku and I thought it was good casting....until I saw him acting. Most Japanese anime characters don't look Asian anyway, they look more like elves.

Are you talking about Dragonball: Evolution? Because the turd who played Goku did not look like Goku.

I didn't watch it as teen. I watched it when I was 4-10. Battle of the Planets. Star Blazers. Robotech.

I caught Galaxy Express 999 on Cartoon Network around '98 and remembered why I like theirs better than ours. What they had produced from the later 90's through early 00's is the best animation ever. Neon Genesis Evangelion is the 20th century's greatest work of art. Any 14 year old that likes it has impeccable taste.

That was passable cause he was an alien. He was given that name by whoever found him.
They did well with casting the rest as Asian. Too bad the movie was crap.

Gods of Egypt is an interesting case where it could have been a good movie but the decisions they made (CGI overload) were'nt good.
