wow this looks really great. Visually at least. I don't know much about ghost in the shell, but it looks like an adventurous adult sci-fi action movie. Although I really did not like lucy or scar jos acting in lucy.

I want to be reborn as Scarjo's favorite underwear.

what's so wrong about them wanting them to stick to source?

people here would be up in arms if they made thor, or captain, or batman, or superman, or whatever asian because it is not going by source or what they've always known. i don't get the double standard here.

though i guess in the end she's a cyborg and can be whatever, so whatever.

I can't say that I know a lot about the anime, but from what people are posting on Facebook. None of them look Asian to me.

her name is motoko kusanagi. she was born a japanese female.

though again, she can choose any body, male, female, whatever after she becomes a cyborg. i guess they could throw that in as a explanation or something.

there's also the angle that she can't really know if what she knows about her human self is "real" or not.

anyways starting to ramble now.

Nothing to explain, in the 1995 movie her fake body is distinctly of a generic white female, that's even a small plot point towards the middle of the movie.

The trailer doesn't do a good job at explaining what the film is about for those of us who are not familiar with the cartoon. I don't if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

They kinda did.

New breakthrough in cyborg tech, she's the first, she was probably dying before and they saved her life by turning her into a cyborg, then gave her a job as an operative, then robe dude comes in and says they didn't save her life... They stole it.

That's just from the trailer.

That has little or nothing to do with the cartoon or the 1995 movie, there doesn't even seem to be a section 9.

Ghost in the Shell is a confusing as hell series to figure out if you don't follow the anime. If you got Hulu. It would be wise to view the anime before seeing this film. It would help a lot :lecture

Not it's not :lol

Not plot-wise anyway. But they will say some trippy **** every now and then but the stories are usually:
>someone is doing weird cyber-crime
>no one knows who
>do detective ****
>figure out who it is
>action
>ocasional insightful stuff about what it means to be a human in a fake body (this is the occasionally trippy part)

But it's a pretty regular structure, it does have like 3 different timelines, for instance, the movies are one timeline, different from the series, but that's as complicated as it gets. Which I doubt it'll have any bearing in this movie.

I got that she's a robot and someone stole her life and lied to her apparently, but the rest are shots of SJ fighting people and the Asian guy shooting some dude and the white hair guy shooting more people.

I guess.

But that's too much info, that's not good.

I don't know why they just don't do music trailers, those are always the best, no dialog, keep all the mystery, just grab us with cool shots and cool music (not this weak vanilla remix).

In fact, I'm gonna do my own trailer, with blackjack and hookers. Already know what song I'll use :lol I've been wanting to do one since I saw that Welcome to the Jungle fan trailer of Suicide Squad.

Because if they did no dialog, the audience that isn't anime fans, would say " Why should I see this film "

First trailer was ****ing fantastic.

Perfect choice of music and editing. Cannot wait to see this.

2017 is going to be such a great year for mature Sci-Fi.
