That seems pretty dumb to sell out of anything thats limited in the first night unless its a big ticket with only a handful of them.

Well if an artist only does 50 of a print then it will happen especially with all the flippers. Items sell out on preview night and half of them end up on ebay the same night.

If they do 50 and sell them all the first night, they they don't give a ____ about fans, and I dont care how cool it is I wouldn't support them.

I keep saying sdcc either needs to be moved to a larger venue or split apart into smaller conventions, featuring different highlights at each one.

Agreed. I know most collectors prefer to have a limited item to help retain its value, but it can backfire sometimes when items are too limited and the true fans can't get them without paying double on eBay.

I think moving any of the big companies stores to another ares, like Hasbo, Mattel, Hot Wheels and any other bigger exclusive for sale would help the flow a ton.

Supposedly there were only 15,000 PV night passes this year too...so the number is the same. I think the problem is you have a lot of people who sneak in.

The quote I posted earlier is from the Head of PR/Marketing for Comicon - so I believe that if he says it's sold out - it probably is.

I'm curious, Josh said they were getting in easy...and you basically said sneaking in? How, didn't they scan badges?

Move the "stores" upstairs? That would help the flow. Did you have to buy a ticket (upstairs) to stand in one of those lines (downstairs) this year?

Sometimes they scanned - but not all the time. And it wasn't a real scan - they had some light thing that would show a seal of some sort - showing that it was an authentic pass. For Preview Night all they really looked for was the PN on the passes to show you had a pass for Preview Night - but when you have 1,000's of people trying to push through the doors - it's kind of hard to check everyone is my guess.

Yup. And if you get busted trying, they just turn you away. There's about 20+ other door people you can try it on when everyone is rushing to get in, so odds are if you try enough, you'll eventually get in.

Looks like I'm going to have to use this method next year.

Not sure why this is such a HUGE deal?

Preview night was probably my worst experience at the whole con. :lol People running around like ******* trying to score a cheap ass he-man toy. :rotfl

Seriously a word of warning to people out there like myself. If you HATE crowds and lines, DONT GO! Its horrid!

If you are like that, I would recommend still going just to meet up with fellow Freaks and have a good time at night. In fact if I go again I will get a hotel and sight see throughout the day. Something I should have done the first time being it was my first trip to the west coast.

I was enjoying the con instead of standing in yet another line!

Near impossible this year too, there were lines for lines to stand in more lines - and more than just Hasbro this time around. Panels are normally my favorite part of going (I've done the exclusives thing ... now they mostly supplement my expenses :hi5:), but even the lesser shows/topics were hugely populated. :slap

Con is really getting crazy, and this was my 7th or 8th year. :horror :gah: :horror :gah:

This is why I'm grateful that I always get an Exhibitor's pass in addition to my Press badge. I'd stress myself out otherwise.

Also, if this year was any indication Security is just going to be even more intense and strict from here on out (especially in light of the pen-stabbing incident... sigh). This year, they were already ridiculous BEFORE that even happened. If your plan is to "sneak" into things (like Preview Night or whatever) I'd recommend a back-up plan or two.

I'm thinking about doing this since the preview night is sold out, I will start tossing heads with a million ppl running into my sides, that's the most annoying feeling to myself. I know I know this will prolly be the worst experience of my life by going to a feeding frenzy but I plan to go for sure next year.

I can't stand my shoulders touching the next person on the plane, exception if it's my wife.

I missed this, what happened, all I kept seeing was ppl dressing up like they were having pens being stabbed in the eyes. :dunno

Its pretty much is that way everywhere you walk. You can't even take a proper step because there are so many people.

That said if you never went you should really check it out. There are some cool things to see!

I'm just better off skipping it and watching the coverage from the best seat in the house (my TV). LOL!

Some guy stabbed another guy in the face with a pen because he was upset the guy was holding a seat for a friend at the Harry Potter panel. :rotfl

It seems that the story was way over blown. One of the guys from KROQ out here was actually in the panel as a moderator and his story was much different then the story that got out. I dont remember exactly what it was but it wasnt nearly as bad as it was made out to be. But yeah its still pretty sad. But then I have been know to knock down the idiots who walk without looking where they are going .:lol
