Talking with Dave during the Con, I think he had one of the better ideas:

Tiered passes -

There should be a general admission pass that only allows access to the convention floor. Beyond that, I think that there should be tiers in which you have access for panels, Hall H, etc; with there being a "mega-pass" which allows total access.

The Con is just too large now, the lines really discouraged me this year.

Last year I was like screw this I am not going back. This year was better for some reason.:dunno

If 3 movie reviews, a blog and business cards is "legitimate" work... then I guess you're right...

Well, in all fairness I do reviews for Sandtroopers on the Sideshow Figures, post news to the FP, and have a blog. That's what got me my press for covering the show. I had to show my work and all that stuff when I first got mine.

I'm every bit as much press as anyone else out there. I'm not only covering the show for myself but all the folks that check out Sandtroopers, check out my blog, but also the folks here.

Press Passes aren't the problem with the pass situation.

I want a "press" badge. What are the qualifications and where/how do you qualify?

They usually have the requirements on the site once they start accepting information in the fall.

This year was the best one yet for me. It really didn't feel as crowded - but then I steered clear of the convention floor on Saturday except the last 2 hours when it wasn't too bad.

If they did something like this and I didn't have to wait in rediculous lines I do believe my opinion of the con would change. I would pay a few extra hundred bucks for this.

However, do you really think it would sway people? The people who are already going seem to be pretty intense about going. I would imagine lots of people would pay extra. :dunno

Who knows? I'm the idiot that pays six flags $100 on top of my ticket price for their VIP passes so I can skip the lines. :lol

It may have had a little something to do with it :wink1:....though it would have been better if Eric was there.

I dont know who the hell that is. :pfft:

I was talking to John Layman at the Image booth, and he said tables were $1500; he wished he had gotten two.

I figured it would be pricey. Tables usually come with 2 badges per table but I'm sure for SDCC it only comes with one.

A Freaks Booth would be cool. We should get Sideshow too sponsor us.

If we got 15 of us to pitch in $100 for a "booth," I'd be down, as long as it came with a vendor pass that included preview night... for all 15 of us. Someone make this happen.

I really could not give two ****s about Preview Night, this was my first year going to it and it was over before I knew it. In years past I had only gone to the con for two days, typically Friday and Saturday and I had an awesome time. If I get a four day pass with no PN, that is not gonna stop me from having a great time again.
