Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

I thought the movie was great! Definitely as good as X1 and X2.

I just started reading some of the reviews when I got home and I don't get it. The reviewers who gave it a bad score must not have seen the same movie I did...

The effects were brilliant, story was entertaining from beginning to end, and the dialog was perfect.

Liev Schreiber was perfect as sabertooth!

Again, what's with all the hate on a great movie? :horror

I agree on the Schreiber part. In my opinion he outshone every actor by quite some margin. A psychopathic, yet smart, hunk of muscle and teeth is not easy to act, but he pulled it off perfectly.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Ok, I saw it again, and liked it better this time. Nowhere near as bad as others are making it out to be. I give it a 7.5/10.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

.............. 3.5 / 10

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Comic fanboy 'eh?

Pretty sure most of the film reviewers that're giving it similar ratings aren't comic fanboys. It's a somewhat subpar film.

Story was lackluster, acting was poor, it was bogged down with way too many unnecessary characters, it's just not a good way to try to relaunch the X-Men franchise. But it's from Fox, not like I expected much else.

It's entertaining enough for a viewing, but it's not like the action scenes or anything else about it were memorable. So if you go in with that mindset, a kinda dumb but fun movie that stars Wolverine, it's a good way to blow 2~ hours.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

I didn't think it was THAT bad, just not great. I agree there were too many characters just for the hell of it (Frost? Blob?), unnecessary stunt casting for Wraith (Will.i.am? Really?), a wasted, anticlimactic Sabretooth brawl with no payoff ("Nobody kills you but me..." :yuck), not to mention that their final fight had all the emotional punch taken out of it...
when it was revealed that Silver Fox was still alive, and why oh why did they use Deadpool for Weapon XI?
Hrrm. I'm going to see it again tomorrow. All in all, not X3 bad, but it wasn't a strong Marvel film. I think everyone's just a tad spoiled (critics especially) that we got Iron Man and The Dark Knight last year and we get Wolverine now... but to me, Wolverine isn't that deep of a character, especially if you give away his origins like Marvel has done in the last few years. It's like the whole Boba Fett thing: he looks cool and has that "Mystery cool" surrounding him until you find out he was just a kid who re-painted his daddy's costume. The origin just takes something away from a character that owed half their 'cool' to being enigmatic.

Most film reviewers give give good marks to movies like 'Milk' or 'Boy In The Striped Pajamas'. These Marvel and DC superhero movies are always extremely farfetched and totally unbeleivable, you have to dumb yourself down for a few hours to enjoy them. It wasn't really that bad, I've seen worse.

On Rottentomatoes, Milk has the same approval rating as Iron Man, and Dark Knight is higher ranked than both of those. Hellboy 2 isn't far behind.

Yeah, there's worse comic movies, but there's a whole bunch of better ones too.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

I don't see how people can say there was bad acting....

All the actors did a good job!

Edit: I found this movie 10 times more enjoyable than Watchmen

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

I returned from watching the film, I enjoyed it.

I will admit I have not read comics in 20 yrs and know little about the origins of Wolerine or any characters portrayed in the movie. I found the plot and acting to be decent with holes but an enjoyable, entertaining film.

Sabertooth, Logan and Deadpool could of rounded out the characters and the movie been fine. I did not mind the Deadpool sequence found it fit into the story (perhaps not the comic). I am looking forward to seeing it again and on dvd.

I cannot wait (and hope) for a Logan, Sabertooth and Deadpool from HT

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

I thought there were some good things about the film. I'm not a big enough of a X-fan to know who most of the characters are supposed to be. Agent Zero, Wraith, the girlfriend - none I recognized from the comics. I'd have liked to see more of Ryan Reynolds as Wade - and the final battle was kind of lame as was that character.

But the performances of Jackman and Schreiber and their relationship could have made a decent film. But it wasn't explored enough.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Saw Wolverine today...I have to say I found it entertaining and a fun film to watch.

The final battle was a little cheesey but that's okay...I like cheese. :D

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

saw the full feature today!....not much difference....watching it again, I say 4/10...:huh

Wilson was great, the scene after he steps out of the elevator. Awesome.
A film concentrating on Logan's and Sabertooth's relationship would be more compelling. I think they both gave admiral performances for their characters.

Don't have much faith in Rottentomatoes, Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull has 76% on there. 'Nuff said!

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

just got back with the kids, and i have to say everyone liked it, including the people in the standing room only theater.
there were many points in the movie that everyone in the theater broke out laughing.:lol so i would say, all in all it was a very enjoyable film for most.

Hmmm...taking a dark and gritty character and making a comedy out of it, intentionally or not.

Isn't that what killed the Batman franchise for so many years?

:huh:huh honestly i don't recall laughing during the 80-90's era batman movies, maybe that was the problem :lol
