Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

I went to see it yesterday with very low expectations so I ended up finding the movie enjoyable. However, I don't know why Marvel allows the stories and backgrounds to be twisted or modified so much. I know that everything cannot be translated as is written but there was just to much going on in too short of a time as well as to many gaps. I also think that they introduced to many characters which distracted the viewer from the main focus on Wolverine. I also found the CGI a bit soft. As for Deadpool, way too many powers for one dude to handle. IMO, a fun movie to watch but way off it's base.

By the way, thanks Lerath666, you cleared up quite a few things for me too.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Ang Lee's hulk was ok, but it suffered from indeciseveness. It seemed to shift from draama, to advbenture, to action and back far too freqently, and not very fluidly. if the transitions were more fluid, I think It would have done much better.

It did better than the incredible Hulk artistically and financially. Plus, Ang Lee's Hulk displayed his true power, the latest one didn't even seem to display healing powers or be able to jump great distances

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Leaping tall buildings in a single bound is more supermans thing. Yes, so can hulk, but do you know why? It's becuase he's massively strong.
Also, falling from an airplane, smashing into the ground, and then getting back up seeimlgy without a scratch seems to showccase his healing quite well.
the newer hulk film assumed you know about the hulk, and did not feel the need to explane everything.

Beter more artistic, or making more money dosn't make it a better movie. It just makes it more artistic and have it made more money.

If you liked it better, you liked it better, and there is nothing wrong with that. but AFAIK, the general consensus (Ang Lee's opinon included) is that his hulk movie was not so great.

had to look up the money aspect, however

from wiki
The film was released on June 13, 2008, and in its opening weekend, grossed $55.4 million in 3,505 theaters in the United States and Canada, ranking #1 at the box office.[70] The previous film earned $62.1 million in its opening weekend, but dropped 70% in its second weekend. The second film by comparison, dropped 60% in its second weekend

Also, on ang lee's hulk
Hulk (also known as The Hulk) is a 2003 superhero film based on the fictional Marvel Comics character of the same name. Ang Lee directed the film, which stars Eric Bana as Dr. Bruce Banner, as well as Jennifer Connelly, Sam Elliott, Nick Nolte and Josh Lucas. The film explores the origins of the Hulk, which is mainly attributed to Banner's father's experiments on himself, and passing these genes on to his son.
Development for the film started as far back as 1990. The film was at one point to be directed by Joe Johnston and then Jonathan Hensleigh. More scripts had been written by Hensleigh, John Turman, Michael France, Zak Penn, J. J. Abrams, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, Michael Tolkin and David Hayter before Ang Lee and James Schamus' involvement. Hulk was shot mostly in California, primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area. The film was released with mixed reviews, and was a box office disappointment. Marvel Studios rebooted it in 2008 with a title of The Incredible Hulk. Hulk earned $61.2 million in DVD sales, bringing its total film gross to $306,560,480.[2]

Producer Avi Arad called the film a financial flop/disaster at the box office, but declared Hulk's merchandising was successful enough to continue a sequel. This eventually led to rebooting the franchise with The Incredible Hulk

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Well, Wolverine is a Mutant, so his powers are genetic.
Read some Deadpool comics, because Reynolds played him perfectly. He's known as the Merc with the mouth

Ahhhhhhhh. Ok. That would make sense. I just didn't know anything about deadpool.....

But did Deadpool really obtain all those combined powers like in the movie??? Cuz then I'd think he'd just be unstoppable....

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

None of the X-Men movies are tru to the comic, that's just it, it's NOT the comic.

If Deadpool in the movie didn't look badass and was like the comic, I'm not sure what else to say. THAT WAS BADASS!!!! :rock

Agree with the Emma being hotter but she will do and agree with why the all of a sudden to call Jimmy Logan out of the blue.

in the comics deadpool is a super agile athlet, mild martial artist, and a master of weaponry . guns knives and swords alike.

He Has regeneration powers, And he has a personal teleporter Device, but that's it.

it's not that he's not like that in the comic, it's what they did to him was SOOOO FAR OUT THERE that it would be the same as if we made a superman movie, and his oragin story was that he's a hyper evolved plant that gets it's poweres from the toxic waste from the hudson river.
He became so far removed that he's not even deadpool any more.
In the comics Deadpool is a FAILED EXPERIMENT from the weapon X program. Noe of his abilities work like they should, and he's thrown into the "deadpool" where they expirement on people to try and perfect "enhancing mutants". It's not till after Wade wilson dies that his powers start to work, his healing factor they gave him bringing him back from the dead... it also breaks his mind, driving him insane.

Having said that
I don't mind a new origin story for deadpool. and it sounds like they Put a thig for him at the end of the film, After the credits. As long as in the Long run we Get Something that atleasts RESEMBLES Deadpool from the comics eventualy, like his own spinoff movie, then I'm happy, and willing to accept the movie origin. Earlly reports had him becoming the Baraka thing, and simply getting killed off in the movie, end of story. That is my, and most other peoples beef with it.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

I don't mind character origins differing too much. Look at the variations between Ultimate X-Men and Avenging X-Men. New writers continually reboot the franchise we all know and love, but the characters in essense remain the same. Isn't that's what's great about comic books?

I love Ultimate X-Men, I think they did a great job of brining a lot of great older super heros to the new generation.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

I personally don't care that much about the storyline changes, I mean Wolverine is not a character Like Superman. He doesn't have a story that's known by everyone... Everyone knows that Superman in from Krypton etc.

But the thing that I disliked about this movie was the rough CGI & the jumpy storyline. And how there was simply far too many characters for such limited screen time...

X2 > X1 > X3....> XMO:W....

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Thing is even the comics aren't without plot holes or inconsistency.
Take Red Hulk,, why has green Hulk gone back to being plain old Hulk smash, when the last time we saw him he was very articulate.

Also, I don't mind if Deadpool keeps his teleport ability, it would be kinda like Spiderman being given the ability to spin webs without a built device, which I preferred to the comic version .

Just FYI, it doesn't really matter if a film has been out 6 years, or a single year. That counts theatrical gross, which is only measured for a few months (after that, it's pulled from every theatre).

The 2003 Hulk had a slightly smaller budget, so they were pretty much even with each other. I liked them both (well, parts of both), here's to some decent sequels on that front.

A movie ticket in 2003 was substatially cheaper than one in 2008

A movie ticket in 2003 was about $6.......in 2008 $10

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Thought it was weak. To many contradictions with X2 and the rest of that series. And since when can you stop a optic blast with knives? Jackman is Wolverine, but the movie gets worse the more I think about it.

I will say tho, when deadpool came back with the "upgrades" and the sealed mouth, that looked SCARY as hell!!!! And pretty bad ass, yes :D

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

For everyone who sat through the credits and saw the secret ending, which one did you see? I'm hearing that there are three different secret endings. I'm not talking about Stryker walking down the road. The one at the very end.

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

Well great, for all who haven't read the character, I can understand how you can come out of this movie saying it was a popcorn fun flick no worse than any other of it's kind.

But for me, a person who likes the Wolverine character as I have read him... what can I say? He is an animal, scary to be around, somewhat unpredictable, feral at times, animal/man. He doesn't get a normal girlfriend/boyfriend relationship because he is such a misfit. Short, too hairy, certainly not J.Crew catalog handsome, short tempered, brutish, unkempt, etc... For me, I see this movie and wonder when is Wolverine going to show up and kick this pretty boy's @ss. So they made a movie that basically alienates most of the fans that have been reading for forever wishing for a Wolverine brought to life on the screen.

When does that movie come out?

When me and Manglord win the lottery and start making our own movies.

The scene that really sums this movie up for me was when he was in the car with his trophy girlfriend and he clumsily has to say the "I'm the best at what I do, and what I do isn't very nice." line. He's saying this in the car, in passing conversation, to his girlfriend. Oooo he's so butch. I guess she likes the pretty 'bad boy' type.

Crap! I thought there may have been a secret ending.... But I thought Stryker walking down the road was it

Care to share what the secret ending was??????? :D

Re: Seen the full feature version of Wolverine!

So it was at the very end? I thought it was over with Stryker walking down the road.

Maybe I can find the endings on YouTube.
