With thanks to my friend G for his advice, my Hippity Hopper has been upgraded.

It's a long story but he has been removed from my sketchbook and is going to a new home. So I've sharpened him up, given him a border and put him on mount board.

He looks like this now:



Once I finish wrapping chrimbo presents I can start a 'Wreck it Ralph' piece and keep practising other stuff....busy busy busy....at least the days go fast now

Thanks so much. I hope she will. Homer is now packed and all my prezzies for my brother's family are packed and ready to be sent up to Scotland.
My niece is so excited to see this picture, all she knows is she's getting one. I got a message from her over the weekend saying she is really excited and her dad (my brother) sais she will not stop talking about it, bless her.
Can't wait till she sees it.

I must admit taking him out of my sketchbook, then matting and mounting the piece does make him look prettier than just in the sketchbook. I'm really pleased you like it too.

I'm considering doing this with a couple of other ones as well now since HF looks so handsome .

HF has been collected this morning and he's going a good home too.
My best mate told me about a lass she works with, a troubled teen that is in a bad way and going through a tough time. So my mate has taken her under her wing so to speak. She told me that her young friend would love the HF piece, so I asked if she wanted to give her it, if it will put a smile on her face.

So that's why I've done this with the hopper. I've sent it to my mate and she will give this lass it for Christmas. I hope it helps cheer her up a wee bit.

Gotcha Chap, more Buffy . I'll try

Since I thought HappyFeet turned out quite well when I finished him and sent him to my friend, I thought I would give the Fat Panda the same treatment.

KFP was the first pic I drew when starting drawing again back in October so he's kinda special for me.

I went back and sharpened him up, added more shading and intensified lines, erased non-necessary lines and smudges and finally sprayed him with fixative.
Then I measured it all up and gave him a black border. I did one a little thicker than HappyFeet, then mounted the piece on white covered mount board.
He now sits in a secure plastic sleeve.

I love drawing cartoons, it's what got me drawing when I was a kid

I sent the pic of the framed Homer to my other Niece, the sister to the one that's actually getting the piece and she loves it, says her sis will cherish it forever, which made me smile.
She's actually gonna film her opening it on Christmas for me and send me it, she sais her sis will love it so much.
I can't wait to see it. .

This looks perfect. The added shading really makes it pop. the mat adds a nice polish! Looks so darn professional i can't stand it

Looking good Shell. you got vanellope's mouth down perfect. if it helps her skirt is actually two upside down reeses pieces so the pleats are really sharp.

It does help, thanks. While the piece I'm doing has her sat in her car, this will help as I keep sketching her and I may do a separate piece just of V, so this will be useful, thank you

So, here's the start of latest project. I have various coloured glitter that has arrived for the bonnet and small pearls to add as the pips in the Strawberry (on the front wheel). Though I'm probably not gonna add those though until the rest of the pieces are done
In the meantime, this is Vanellope almost finished:



I'm not happy with some of it, could have done better.
At least I'm getting used to using colours again, it hurts like hell, but it good fun .

Ralph is being done as a separate piece stood behind the car, ready to push her.

Once he's completed I can start with a great Sugar Rush background. - also done separately. The wee lass who is getting this will be 4 years old at the end of Jan, she actually thinks she IS Vanellope, so glitter/ shiny and lots of sugary bright coloured awesomenes are mandatory for this piece I think
The finished piece will be her bday prezzie.

The more I look at it, the more I'm disliking it.
What can I say, I'm a perfectionist and my own worst enemy. I'm even considering getting paint supplies and maybe painting her instead. I think my confidence is coming back to where I wanna paint again.

I've got the right paper and drawing boards along with new brushes coming tomorrow, so it looks like I'll be trying my hand at painting again, over the holidays.
Hopefully it won't hurt as much as colouring with pencil does cos I don't think I can do a full piece in coloured pencil, seriously it hurts so much.
Fingers crossed painting will be easier and I'm able to do it.

So, haven't lifted paintbrush since 2000, here's my first attempt with very basic supplies, so it's VERY rough:



This was done without things like acrylic glazer and retarder so I had to work quickly and as such there's lot of mistakes and I couldn't mix/ shape the paint like I wanted to, to get rid of the brush strokes etc.

It felt good with a paintbrush though and thankfully didn't hurt as much as the coloured pencils.

I have some more supplies coming today like pallet's, acrylic glazing liquid (to dilute the paint without losing pigment)/ retarder (to keep the paint liquid for longer - like oils) and some decent brushes so will hopefully be able to do much better.

I'm doing the WiR piece (my next project) in paint now, once I have all the right materials. It's pencilled out on an A2 painting board and I'll probably start it tomorrow. this one (above) was a practise piece, to see how I did.
Gotta say, I'd forgotten how much fun it was to paint.
