Who knew his left leg could be so flexible? ...or attach to his body at a lower point than his right one?

Looks like a bad model in a video game trying to adjust the position of its leg on a ledge.

Yeah I agree. I think the CG has been very shoddy in all the trailers, although this scene looks pretty awesome.

What...for Japanese standards the cgi looks phenomenal.

In some shots I'd say it trumps many CGI creations, the trouble seems that they likely didn't have enough budget, so they poured a lot into some shots and had to settle for a few, which I'm ok with, no movie has flawless CGI.

Just read a news piece a few minutes ago stating that it did indeed.

Huh? What is this? When is this movie coming out in the US?

I saw someone over at TK mention that the tip of Shin Godzilla's tail looks like it has a head starting to grow out of it. I thought it was bull and then I went to look for the close up picks. Uuuuugh, I think it might be a head actually. That might explain some things? This makes me want the Monster-Arts figure even more now. I heard it was sculpted by the actual maquette designer for the film, which adds a level of cool even though it's not Saki.

Here's a pic I took of the tip of the Bandai vinyl figure, if that sculpt has it, it's definitely intentional, the bones in his tail form an imperfect open jaw and eye sockets.

My guess is, with all the extra claws and everything else, they wanted this Godzilla to be a real abomination without losing the Godzilla look, so a head almost forming from his tail that can also shoot his ray, much of his body looks like his inner body is bursting out through his skin, just a really freaky creature, and the more I see and learn about his evolution and such, it makes me further appreciate the design.

Yep, me too MaulFan. The more I learn about the story, the more the design makes sense. It's already becoming one of my all time favorite takes on Godzilla and I hated it at first. It's kinda like how I ended up changing my mind on Ledger's Joker. After seeing the first image I thought it was a$$ but after seeing more shots and then the whole movie and getting the whole story I think it's really creative and brilliant.

The challenge with this Godzilla was weighing the look of the design against his history. Was it the '54 brought back to life, is it another dinosaur horribly disfigured, etc.

Realizing this is a smaller organism exposed to toxic materials and radically transformed over a short time span really makes the design make sense without having to specifically identify a reason for parts in the story itself.
