BTW, if you want to see Mopar royalty, I got a tour of Wade Ogle's private collection earlier this year. These are all super low mile, real deal, matching number, top notch cars. Including '70 Hemi Challenger Convertible, '71 Hemi Challenger Convertible, '70 Hemi Cuda Convertible, '71 Hemi Cuda Convertible, etc.

High impact color e-bodies with hemis...nice photos, thanks for sharing.

Even though they're underappreciated by what seems pretty much everyone, I'm happy with my 383 and always wanted a Road Runner.

I don't think the 383 Roadrunner is under appreciated when they are being sold for $40K. I'd love to own one again.

And yeah, Wade's collection is pretty crazy. He has some crazy non-Mopars too include a few Yenkos, the actual 1969 Indianapolis 500 Camaro pace car, GTO Judge convertibles, the 427 Cobra Comp coup with the most race wins in history, the lowest mile 427 Cobra in the world, etc.

The first time I met him he was crushing in the "lost" 1971 Hemi Cuda convertible with a baby seat in it after he had just paid $4M for it.

Unless it was a numbers matching "untouched" pristine or frame off full restoration, rare optioned highly desirable paint combo, I dont see many guys paying 40k for a 383. I'm also on FBBO forum and those guys would say the same for the most part. Prices are climbing and finding an affordable B-body project is not as common, but the high dollar money is always on a 440 or 426. 383 Cuda maybe (e-bodies are a whole nother ballgame), havent seen a 383 RR cross an auction block lately.

Buy hey, I could be wrong. I'll have twice that into my car once done-done, and much like this hobby I would never expect to get it all back if I ever sold it.

I just know what I've seen in my area (California) and a nice Roadrunner around here is $40K. I'm talking about a #2 car. Maybe the asking prices and selling prices are different. I'm having lunch with a guy who buy, sells and restores these for a living tomorrow...so I'll try to remember to ask. He knows the real value of these cars.

I'm in Los Angeles. I'd be interested to know what your friend has to say. Auctions are fun to watch (except when you get one mopar for every 1.5+ hours of coverage, :lol) but not always the best indication of everyday value.

I'll try to remember to ask. The focus of the lunch is my buddy's Pantera.

It's in the San Fernando valley......I have upgrade my headlights so I can speed around at night too

I'm in the east valley, I'll check it out one of these days after I get through the next round of upgrades this month and/or July.

I'm still using my stock headlights, not bad but will get those redone (along with everything else), having 4 helps when I need it.

I asked my friend and he says the Roadrunner has come way down in value (like most of the market). He said nobody wants a b-body these days, and only the e-bodies still go for good money. He said a really nice 383 is $20K, and he said he recently sold an orange Hemi Roadrunner 4-spd for only $40K. I may save up and try to buy one if they are this cheap!

He said everything is down. He's sold a bunch of stuff lately including three L88 Vettes. He sold a Dragonsnake for $1.3M 1.5 years ago, and a nicer one with more history only got $700K this year. [emoji51]

So basically now is the time to buy!

I wouldn't say nobody wants a b-body, there are plenty of people that will look for one but if you have the means to buy it "New" completely done that's a different story and usually dictated by what the current market is. 2nd generation Chargers are always popular from a car company that's still around while a 1971 Plymouth Cuda sells for 4million... I think there's a divide between your "regular" guy and a person buying up items at a highly televised car auction.

Camaros, Mustangs and Challengers are still in current production so the popularity is still very high. Performance sedans are not (entirely) what they once were, now mostly 4 doors and not 2. Old school Impalas, Chevelles, GTOs, GTXs, RRs, Chargers, Super Bees and let's say Galaxies are a thing of the past. The world is GM and Chrysler will always be 3rd, I'm cool with that :lol

I also think that as older generations die off interests decline. It is what it is and I was never in it for the $. Thank you though for posting what insight your friend had. It's always good to be informed.

It shocked me that you could get a good Hemi Roadrunner for $40K. That's a ton of car for the money.
