Cool. I still want to get a motorcycle...

All stock. Will add some headers, tune, black rims and call it a day.

Excellent! Black wheels will really add to the bad assnes....it's a 6spd I'd wager? If so you gotta add a short shifter, makes a big difference....looking forward to seeing it with the wheels

Cam makes a big difference too. If you're going to pay for a dyno tune, I'd add a cam.

And the Hellcat is cool, but it depends on what you want. I'm more of a handling guy, and my little Focus would run circles around the Hellcat. So it depends on what you want.

The cars I like are listed by price:
Focus RS (bought one) $36K
1LE Camaro $45K
GT350 $55K
M2 $55K
Grand Sport $65K
Charger Hellcat $65K
ZL1 1LE $65K
GT350R $65K

The Hellcat I would only buy as a ridiculous daily driver. Those cars aren't particularly good at any type of motor sports, but they are fun on the street.

My three favorites on the list (or the ones I'd buy) are the RS, 1LE SS, and the M2.

700+ HP even starting at 65k is still the best bargin in town.

And cost, might as well do other stuff if you're going to swap out the cam.

Yeah agreed, $65k for a complete vehicle with 700hp (way more with a tune) is a deal...$65k is easily spent restoring a classic. Oh yeah if you're paying someone to do the cam swap it's a lot of cash! I was figuring on doing it at home. Heads and cam are sick grimlock, but they do change drive ability and in places like CA they are a big emissions no no, so having to find a friendly smog guy is another added cost and hassle. A carb approved supercharger is the best bet. Put a tvs 2300 on that gran sport and make 550 wheel horse power and still pass emissions.

I'm in California. There are CARB legal cams and heads out there. I know tons of people making mods on their Vettes like this and getting through SMOG. I understand a supercharger may be the simpler route, but I prefer a N/A V8, especially on the track.

I know there are cam profiles that can pass smog but I don't think they're worth the effort. If I'm doing an NA motor I'd like a pretty nasty cam and in ca the duration and lsa options that will pass are limited. Yeah for a track car forced induction is not the way to go but for a street car that has to pass smog and not throw codesl forced induction can't be beat. Or get an e85 tune :)

It's too hard for me to get E85 where I live, or I might have gone that route with my RS.

I'm not sure what gains you get with just a tune on the LS3, on the LS6 it really wasn't worth tuning unless you are adding more mods.

I think I'm either going to buy a Challenger T/A or Subaru WRX

Definitely don't buy a new WRX, it is a turd in the market. It is absolutely dated and offers zero benefits over the Golf R or Focus RS (other than a larger aftermarket). If you buy a used one, sure. If you want the best performing car in the class get the RS. The RS beats the STI, Golf R, Evo, etc. by 6.5+ seconds a lap on VIR. An R35 GTR is only 4 seconds quicker than the RS. If you want the best overall car in the class get the Golf R. It's got the best ride, best interior, an optional DSG, etc.

I've owned an SRT8 and now own an RS, I know which I prefer (but both are great). Very different cars though.

I don't like the body on the Golf at all

I agree, the Golf R is a bit bland for me, but it looks a lot better now that they are importing it will the good looking wheels now in 2017.

If you are buying new and want a hatch, I'd try to get a 2017 Focus RS under MSRP now, or pre-order one of the 1,000 Focus RS Limited Edition models that end the production run. You get the benefit of a Quaife LSD with the RS LE and its a good value if you want a loaded car. I personally bought a base model with only the blue paint option for $37K which was a great price at the time...but you can get them for less today. If you want the upgraded interior and heated seats, I'd try to get a deposit on the RS LE now. Resale value will be very good on an RS too.

The Chally is a great car on the street, sounds awesome (especially if you get an SRT model with the upgraded exhaust) and the seats are especially good for really big people. If you are 220+ lbs, the Charger/Chally are hard to beat in comfort. Obviously a car like the Focus RS will destroy the Chally in any motor sports other than a drag race, but it's a really nice street car. I personally prefer the Charger styling and practicality, but that a personal thing. To me the Chally looks bloated, but that's because it is compared to a 1970 model.

If I was modifying a Vette I'd do heads and cam. No forced induction.

Bingo. Larger cam selection maybe and do more (of anything) while the top is open.

No doubt the Focus would run circles around but I was just going by sheer HP #'s / $.
Hellcat would be way to much for a daily driver unless you really loved it, and would be great at the strip.

Yes, that exactly.

If it were a Challenger, Camaro or Mustang, whatever your preference the "HP wars" are in full effect with today's pony cars and still "affordable" (depending on your insurance rate)

T/A all the way, at stock level that's all you really need and still very cool and fun to drive and look at.
