So I bit the bullet and ordered a Probe Droid. I didn't want to miss out on it and have it become scare and expensive like the E-Web cannon etc. I did notice that it actually says Pre-Order though, why would it be up for PO and not just for sale?

I just didn't realize they were doing a second wave, I thought it had sold out and maybe some cancellations etc had come up for sale. Not an issue or anything, just missed that detail somehow.

It was really strange that they sold out so quickly the first time around, so maybe they didn't get their entire production completed. They're doing more Vader figures too, which may be the third production.

I guess that explains why my preorder has not arrive at my local retailer yet.

Sideshow's items availability has been quite inconsistent lately. Most recent releases arrived in waves (Echo and Five, Probe...), Boba Fett is getting a second run for overseas markets and the original Battle Droïd 2-Pack got back in stock a few weeks ago.

I wanted to get this piece, but after few video reviews, not sure about that any more.Visually looks good, but cant get out of my mind that cheap in hand feel people complain about it,still on the fence with this one.

Congrats, LMZ! Think you'll be really pleased with it. It's a really awesome piece, IMO. Favourite thing I have from Sideshow, for sure.

There's nothing "cheap" about how it feels in-hand. It's light, but that's a good thing, considering it needs to sit suspended on a metal or acrylic pole. If it were 10 pounds (because everyone knows, weight = quality :p), that might be a little difficult.

It's light, so what? It's not as if you're going to take it out in the backyard and play Star Wars. Perception's a funny thing.

It's my favourite piece and one of the best I've seen from any company. The longer I have it, the more I love it.

If you're not a fan of the droid "character" that's a different story, but I think it's amazing.

It's hollow, so Listrek could always fill it with melted wax to get that feeling of 'quality'. :lol

That's exactly how it's often done with high end stereo equipment. It has always been done more or less but on the big amps the transformers and stuff are heavy enough by themselves. But I know of at least one maker who released amps with the B&O ICE-power modules and then put led weights in there to weigh it down for a more "quality" feel. :slap

I know MSB made Laserdisc players for Runco that had the led weights in them as well, but I guess you can make a case for the weights when it comes to stabiliy when rotating 12-inch discs at high speed.

Yes it's light but that really shouldn't hold anyone back from buying this piece. The sculpt is nice and sharp and very detailed, and the paint apps and finish are absolutely museum-quality. It's a beautiful piece with a lot of shelf presence that can even be displayed completely on its own as an objet d'art.

To be fair, it's just over a pound and though it seems a little light for what it is in reality it's heavier than a regular sideshow figure (snowtrooper at least) and you'll likely only handle it to put it together and place it on the stand. It's really a beautiful piece--as everyone has noted.

Exactly.

The E-web feels like it weighs less than an empty coke can, but it looks ****ing great. If you are concerned about the getting the value in weight of plastic or fabrics, I would think that not many figures are worth more than a few bucks in materials alone. The cost lies elsewhere.

Honestly... how often is it going to be actually "in your hand" to feel the weight? For the hour of taking it out of the box, assembling and putting it on display?

And as others have said, while the pieces feel very light as you initially examine it, put it all together on the stand and it does have the same - if not more - heft than a regular SSC figure.

Thanks, I'm pretty stoked about getting it. I haven't actually gotten any Sideshow figs in some time. So getting this beast will more than welcome.

I have the STAP and Battle Droid and I was surprised at the light weight of both the STAP and the droid itself. I'm not sure why I was surprised seeing how it's a very thin vehicle and so is the droid itself, but despite that, it's really well done and a great display piece. The only reason I might get rid of it is because I no longer want to have many, if any, Prequel figs.

I finally got my probe droid...FANTASTIC....anyone got any clear rods left?

Congrats, CC! Glad you like it. Did it finally arrive from USH, btw, or did you buy it elsewhere? Just wondering if I need to be prepared to be invoiced.

Got probe droid from BBTS....still had them at retail, and I got a few other things I needed too! I have given up on Urbansamuraihobbies...I will PM you details...
