Oh, yeah. I remember seeing those Shorty pics a looong time ago. Back when the Indy line was still in alive and Sideshow was talking about how the Mine Cart and Shorty were in "active development". If I recall, they were also talking about making Willie.

And then everything went verrry quiet.

It's just as well, I suppose. If the line is going to start up again (though there's no evidence that's going to happen after this figure), I'd rather have more Indyverse figures at this quality level than what Sideshow was pumping out ten years ago. Even though this Indy won't come close to the proto paint aps in their production figures, their sculpting and costuming has definitely progressed.

I wouldn't count on any other Indy figures regardless of what Sideshow says to generate excitement.

This will have poor sales like all other Indy merchandise. Sad but true. I wish it weren't.

I already made my own custom TOD Indy and I'm completely happy with him. I may pick up a few loose pieces from TA to upgrade when this gets released but I'm not gonna drop over $200 on this when I know it won't be any better than the one I have now.

Sansweet was right. "Not toyetic."

Yeah I think the problem is Sideshow waited so long most fans who want a TOD figure have already assembled their own custom version. And unfortunately this one just looks a little too simple and barebones to be an absolute, "must have" figure.

Headsculpt, Nailed! Paint App, Nailed! This is the version of Indy I have always wanted, however, everyone seems to suggest the production piece wont look as good as the proto, and I have to agree with them. That Nathan Drake is outrageous! Like seriously, how did they get away with that?

:goodpost: I agree 100%. Especially since HT's version ended up being such an enormous failure.

You are probably right. But I'm still very glad Sideshow decided to revisit the line. After all, for all we knew the line was completely dead. At least now we have one more Indy coming, and (hopefully) at a better quality than before.

They were stupid not to PO a 1:6 Mola Ram with TOD Indy. It would have helped bolster sales. And where is that defunct mine cart environment they said was coming 7 years ago? :lol

In this case, they definitely need some sort of bonus. TOD Indy is not the one-off Indy people want if they are going to display just one Indy.

Maybe Mola will be previewed about the time SS needs to collect on funds. That would be smart.

Mola would be nice but I really want a Shorty on the shelf. They have the body for him. Include him with a mine cart.

Although I'd love a bonus, I'm pretty happy with this Indy being the only one on my shelf. I missed out on the HT one, which although the sculpt/tailoring wasn't HT's best, the diorama with the idol and the second set of clothes/diorama makes for a pretty cool set. When I see it in others' collections, I think it looks pretty good from a short distance.
I think this sculpt looks excellent, and with a leather jacket (got one off Ebay) I think it could look pretty good on it's own...

Well, yeah, with the leather jacket you got elsewhere -- that was my point. Not many people want this version of Indy (TOD) as their sole rep of the character. Not even you.

Its baffling its not in there for exactly the reasons you have mentioned.
The $90 Indy figure from Sideshow many years ago had a nice jacket, in some ways better than the later Hot Toys one as it was thinner and sat better.
That $90 figure actually had a ton more included including a second sculpt.
This is a $230 figure yet they couldn't put in one of those jackets? ....don't even need an extra shirt as it will be covered up anyway...

I grabbed a Hot Toys one from ebay quickly as I have a feeling all the 1/6 Indy jackets are going to sell once the figure comes out.
I really want to display him from the last scene, jacket on and presenting the stone back to the village.

Perhaps, but leaving out the jacket actually helps differentiate it from previous Indy's and makes it more scene-specific.

I don't really get that. Its not like he didn't wear the jacket in the movie... much as Indy went without jacket in Raiders in several scenes. They could photograph him with various looks and still keep it TOD specific.

To make a figure very scene specific -- essentially the last scene -- and give such a minimal of accessories, and then charge $230... a jacket would make many feel a little better I would think. Still a minimal figure but at least it has options now.

How are you going to pose your Indy? Sword arm up or sword arm down?
