Nope. One will do for me. Pretty sure a PT version will see release later on and variants could also show up sooner or later. Thinking about it, Episode VII R2 could well be here before a PT incarnation.

Can't wait to see what new gadgets EP VII has.

And yet they do exactly that with the Stormtroopers for example that they could probably sell a couple of thousand a year in perpetuity if they were just available.

Give it time. They went back and FIXED the clone troopers, made them basicly perfect, and then released them as an open edition "deluxe Figure" recently. Stormtroopers will eventualy get this treatment too. Just wait.

I'm kinda surprised at the estimate prices you guys are coming up with. Not saying you're wrong as I have not enough experience with SS and the SW line. But considering Yoda was only $100, shouldn't this be not too much more or less?

I agree, however, Artoo is slightly more intricate than yoda, what with all his tools and opening panels. That, PLUS his electronics means he will be a little more than yoda.

HOWEVER, Unlike yoda, He has a much higher potential for reuse, as other astromech droids with simple repaints and different domes. this will drive the price back down.

i really do think that that, coupled with his popularity, and likely high production numbers to meet customer demand will mean a price somewhere in the 150$ range.

Might be wrong, have to wait and see.

Agreed... a cool addition and I'm sure a few people will opt for that look next to Jabba's throne; but I doubt I'd ever use it. Kind of wish things like that and the table were part of a seperate release or "expansion pack" like Sideshow did with Maul's Balls and the Jabba creatures. I'd gladly pay less to just get R2 and skip the accessories. And I'm sure many would pony up an extra $50 for all that crap.

Yeah. I don't need a "deluxe" R2 like I didn't need a deluxe Vader. Most of that stuff is parts bin fodder.

If it's anymore than $125, I will have to pass. He's half the size of any other figure.

:lol

You will be passing

Same here. That's probably the only reason I would pick up a Sideshow version.

Yeah. Depending on price that could be enticing.

That brings up the question:

Who here has the Tama but would still think about buying an SSC Threepio?

Now with the R2 addition, I'm motivated to upgrade/finish my Tatooine Luke and Tatooine Han at long last. Maybe even a Princess Leia head upgrade. I have about a year or so to do it in time with R2's arrival.

It's fun to be planning OT Central characters again.

I think the R2 looks amazing but I will have a very tough time paying $200+ for it. I have deep pockets but short arms (if you understand what I am saying)!!!

I kinda want 3. But, since I just discovered that they make dollars in $100 denomination, I will probably only get one.

You can always go to office depot and use their color copy machine for more $100 bills...........:lecture

I can't say I'm not at all tempted... again for reasons of having a different look. Not to mention I already have a "spare" Hasbro R2 as part of my Yoda Hut display, so why not a 2nd C-3PO behind Jabba or elsewhere :huh

Not saying I'd definitely buy, but I could be persuaded even if it was just to compare the two in-hand and sell off the loser.

Half the size, twice the tooling :dunno

Agreed! 150 sounds reasonable for R2.

150 sounds unrealistic for R2

$150 sounds downright sexy.

150 bucks sounds sexy enough for a threesome. But I'd be happy for an unboxing night with just me and a single polished dome.

I remember it being touted about by many members that the delux Vader was going to be 299.00- 350.00. So when it came in at the price point it did, I think many people were pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, but that was just highball guessing. I'm sure if we look back at the thread people were hoping Vader would be no more $200!

I saw a couple of those the other day. I bet it'd cost more to make a passable copy than it would to earn one.

You mean, like, a clean version?
