The Separatists stormed it and have held it for some time now...

Picked up R2 at SDCC this year. I also found a Bib Fortuna for $45. Now I only need 3PO for this scene (and a Gamorean Guard or two)

And you can have your cat play the part of the rancor :)

Btw I wonder if the QC complaints have hurt the sales for this figure. Just saw it on a local website and they listed 14 R2s in stock, thats the same as when I saw it a week or so after release. Seems to be a slow seller over here atleast.

Just got him in.

I love the figure, definitely feels a little more fragile than I thought it would and the panels are loose and kind of flop open but overall I'm pretty happy. Makes me wish they made a "standard" version and then a "deluxe" version because as I look at all the additional parts and know I'll never use them. Definitely going to get the next two droids because they're the perfect scaling for nonintrusive displays but it's definitely not perfect.

Yeah, my doors flop open all the time. My magnet seems nearly dead and at first I didn't understand you had to attach the magnet part to the light saber hilt. It looked like they were just using the end of the light saber as it came in the directions. The door where the light saber goes wont really open on mine so I am afraid to stick the thing in there and not be able to get it back out and the extended parts of the two of the arms are really loose and just slide up and down on their rails in the body. I see a lot of potential breakage or at least wearing out of parts if they get used too much.

Overall I am really happy with him anyway, I am not sure if there is a trick to the lights though, mine just keeps cycling through colors, I thought there was different modes but the directions really didn't explain anything. Am I missing something with this?

As for sales, not sure. At SDCC Sideshow was selling him for $149 with tax included and lots of people ended up buying them from the booth. They had 50 custom R2's for the R2-Me2 display and that brought a lot of attention at the booth.

Sounds like you had a broken saber. The magnet is integrated with the saber, there's nothing to attach/assemble.

Mine came with the saber hilt itself but it has no magnetic capabilities. There was a separate piece that screws on to the saber that is magnetic, almost looks like a button battery but a bit smaller. It came in its own spot with tape over it in the plastic shell and when attached it worked like it was supposed to but barely magnetic. Doesn't look like the pictures though.

^^That's not the restraining bolt, right?

uh... probably. well, my magnet is dead in the light saber I guess and I have been using the restraining bolt as an attachment to the saber so that there was some magnetic action... yeah that sounds like what was going on. So to further iterate, their directions suck and my light saber magnet does too.

Which end of the saber are you using? The magnet is on the ***-end.

I have tried both, just did again right now and it does not work at all. The restraining bolt is the only thing with a working magnet other than the three doors on the body and the center cap for the bartending arm. Is there a trick to getting the door where the light saber goes to stay open? Also is there something I am missing with the lights or do they just cycle through colors. Sometimes the projector comes on, sometimes not.

There's a touch panel on the left. The first long blue panel to the left of the eye. First tap turns lights off. Second tap also adds the projector. Third tap turns them all off.

Can you see the magnet in the butt-end? It should be flush - if it's missing there should be a hole in its place.

The panels on the front each have a metal plate in them which are attracted by the magnet.

It doesn't stay open. You press and slide and hold it open yourself. I don't recommend using it or keeping the saber in there.

Thanks guys, yes there is a hole on the saber (hence the restraining bolt "screwed" into it. I forgot there was a restraining bolt but with that on the saber it looked really dumb so should have figured it out sooner. I will open my box again and see if there is a loose magnet somewhere and if not scavenge the carpet where I opened it the first time.

I'm really happy with mine. Oddly enough, both my life scanner and periscope lock into place and stay up, so I'm pretty happy about that, but on the other hand, the long door on the right side of his body won't stay fully closed. But he really is a cool piece...
