I'm really happy with mine. Oddly enough, both my life scanner and periscope lock into place and stay up, so I'm pretty happy about that, but on the other hand, the long door on the right side of his body won't stay fully closed. But he really is a cool piece...

Have you checked if the little hinge pins at the top and bottom are clipped in properly? Mine was the same, same door too, until I maneuvered them into the holes.

Thanks, ya I did check that. So much so, I actually carefully removed the door, and put it back in myself to make sure it was straight and clipped in. Same issue. Maybe the plastic warped a little at some point. Not a big issue for me, still super happy!

I didn't get around to ordering R2 but Is it worth picking one up?:r2d2line

Seems like most people liked him, some complaints about not being heavy enough. :dunno I got mine with a $25 off code 3 weeks ago but haven't had time to open him up due to work. There was a $30 off code for him last week so if you want him look out for one of those. I'll come back and give my opinion in a day or two when I'll have some time off.

I have no idea if it's worth it to anyone else, but it's a good figure in general and a very good representation of R2. It has a lot of moving parts and panels, so it may have higher than average QC issues, but nothing to get paranoid about. SSC stands by the product in case of serious problems.

I'm pretty happy with mine. I do think he should be a little heavier, but that's a pretty normal complaint with SSC products it seems.

He needs Threepio ASAP though.

I got two... about a month or two apart. I needed one next to my Tama 3P0, & then one to serve my Jabba. The second one I got with a $20 off coupon code. He is light, & you do want to be careful-ish with him. But he just looks tremendous on display. The light up feature is awesome (but don't let the batteries sit for longer than a month). I'm super happy, with both of the ones I got. No QC issues with either.
I'd say go for it. Your collection is wanting without an R2 in it.

I got mine from a fellow freak for a good deal, some time ago. It was good enough to have me put myself on the C3PO exclusive waitlist after cancelling last year. Waitlist recently turned to an order. While a little flimsy due to all of the opening doors and panels, it's simply the best representation in 1/6th scale that we've presently got. I love the lighting effects!

So is this R2 undersized? Any other options that are in scale?
This is the best option. It's a hair undersized. If you need perfect scale people might recommend a Taito clock. Here's the comparison posted earlier in the thread. I'm sure you can figure out which is the clock.

Do you know where I can pick one up for cheap?

You can probably get the Sideshow R2 for less than you'd pay for the Taito clock if you get a good coupon/discount to use on the purchase.

The difference in scale here in this picture seems extremely minimal IMO. The clock seems only a hair larger, not enough for me to be put off by the scale of the sideshow one. If you want to see a difference in scale put either one those R2's next to a much smaller Hasbro one.

Agreed. The Taito one is maybe 1/4" taller and has a tiny bit more girth but to me the SS one is great. Looks great with the Tama 3PO and should look great with the SS one--look great together in the promo pics.
