This'll be a great site for those of us who are gonna do a little tweaking to this one.

https://www.indygear.com/index.html

Ya, I was checking that site out on my lunch break today. I forsee repainting Indy's hat, the color doesn't quite seem right on the production, almost a grey instead of brown, so maybe a light wash and some subtle weathering.

The tricky part will be, how to make the 5 O'Clock shadow more a beard shadow and not a chin strap, or maybe just add flesh tone and remove it to just the sculpted stubble, not sure, but if in hand or in my photography it keeps looking like he's got a chin strap beard, i'll have to do something, that look is just totally innappropriate for Indy.

Holy crap, up till now I had been assuming that Indy was a Hasbro version!!!:google

The one that comes with the Relic Hunter figures is quite nice...and metal to boot. Here is a pic (sorry to sully up this thread with a Medicom pic). It's pretty close to the actual prop:

Hey A,

Did you get the exclusive, with torch and dart? That's gonna look really cool with the base IMO.

And I agree, shirt looks cheapo. :lol

Bro, believe it or not, I cancelled my exclusive. The torch and dart didn't win me over enough. I'll get the regular from one of the online shops and save a couple of bucks in the process.

The base totally blew me away, though. :rock

I'm canceling my exclusive, I was hoping that the new body had a skeletal structure and real flesh. The guns don't really fire and he has no socks! The hands have sculpted fingernails versus the real growing kind. Everyone knows that Harrison Fords bloodtype is B positive and Sideshow made it A positive, way to pay attention to detail Sideshow!! :banghead This figure is a joke! Why it doesn't even have teeth!!!

:rotfl

That's good shtuff...

really looking forward to this figure. but after seeing "that" episode of south park, i'm worried its going to give me some serious nightmares.

What about some colored pencils? Would that work? Watercolor paint watered down a bit might also work. I'm just not sure of the surface texture yet.
The facial hair on Harrison Ford for Raiders was grown in a bit more than in the sequels. Above his lips in particular was much darker, especially in the philtral dimple as well as the hair under his chin. This is very evident in the standard movie poster as well as in the film. Ford wore a much cleaner appearance in the sequels.

It must be an illusion, but does Indy's head look larger than it did on the prototype?

I really hope it's just an illusion. But it does look like it. Why though would they make it bigger? Looks like the same happened with Lara Croft. I hope someone poses them against other figures to see if they really are bigger. Don't want to waste money on them if they have a ridiculous head size like most of the Star Wars line.

The proportions of both prototypes looked fine in person.

What the heck happened to this thread?! There was some great entertainment going on with the back and forth jabs and now there's just too much Indy love... :(

So to stir things up, I'd like to pick on Indy's shirt. It looks bad. Almost like the factory in China had tons of the material that they used on the 12" Tatooine Luke shirt available and off it went to the Indy factory line...

It appears to be too thin (material-wise) and the color too yellow, instead of a light tan. There's the fraying as well, which gives it a cheapy look. As far as I can tell, it's really the only negative with this figure, in my opinion.

But I'm really liking the jacket. It nowhere near Sovereign Studio's work of art, but it's still nice looking. The pants look good as well. The gear is spot-on. I'm now really looking forward to the idol base.

I agree with the Indiana shirt. Love the pants, the boots, the gun, the whip, etc. I even think the head sculpt is pretty good for a Harrison Ford likeness. However, the paint apps have me a bit worried. The body even more so, and the Hot Toys body will require new shoes!! It's almost a catch 22. However, much of this might change once we get this figure in hand. Did anyone else get theirs from Amazing Toyz?

Your right, it depends totally on the surface texture. If its sculpted on then fine, less to do. If not I plan to add the stubble, theres a simple way to do this.
What I do is I take a small amount of epoxy clay and apply a very thin layer to the area I want the stubble. Then I build the texture with a tooth brush. When set, Repaint and then I use a hard non water soluble colored pencil (in light strokes) over the surface to get the color.
But you must SPRAY matt varnish the head. A liquid applied with brush will lift the color.

You really need to lay off him on that one. We were discussing how to get the right stubble look, not even attacking the figure for any reason. Let it go.

Yeah, really. What the hell?

Agent5, I've got your back as a fellow Gearhead, bro. :duff
