I love the print. It looks more like an art piece than something draw for the cover of a comic. Don't get me wrong, I like the scarlett witch and dagger prints as well, but they always remind me of the marvel posters you see in comic stores. Mystique is the first print from AH that I will probably spend the money to frame. Guess each to their own.

Well congrats, we are happy you like it. I personally don't like AH's Mystique print at all. I don't like the absence of her white areas. To me, it looks like she is a bunch of floating body parts and a floating gun. This worked well with his Black Queen and Emma convention prints, but not here. On the right side it also looks like the skull took a bite out of her thigh. I loved Adam's original sketch for this statue, they should have kept it.

As far as the Brooks prints, they are HUGE and amazing. Sadly, I was at the Chicago comic con when Scarlet Witch went up for pre-order and wasn't able to get the exclusive. I will be kicking myself in the head for that for a long time.:banghead

As far as your comment about the Brooks prints looking like comic covers or comic store posters.....HUH? That is what the characters are based on. These artist have done comics and comic covers before, how would any of these prints not look like comic cover or posters?

Damn! I should've PPOed the Scarlet Witch instead!:banghead:banghead:banghead

I'm getting on the waitlist now even though It's beyond late!:rotfl

*crossing fingers and legs*

If you are getting on the WL for SW Ex you can kiss that one goodbye and just get one here or from evilB :devil :lol

I was within seconds of the PPO being missed on that day and it just converted yesterday, I've never had any WL last that long. :banghead I was getting worried because I usually have 100% faith in the WL.

I hate to rude here but I really do like the Mystique print only because it is different, it mixes it up and adds variety to the rest of AH! prints. It would look a little redundant if the same print only of a different character from framed on the walls next to each. This adds diversity and in this crazy world we need diversity, ain't that right Ece?

Wait does Ece collect AH! Ahhhh never mind :banghead

Women make him nervous. lol

I concur.:lecture

The Mystique print is way too busy at the top. Should've stuck with the original sketch and tweaked it here and there.*sigh*

Look at Mark Mayhew's work of Mystique. So minimal yet so haunting.

Art, by its very nature, is subject to being liked or disliked. Not everyone is going to like the same things, and we've seen that played out on EVERY statue and with every print. And that's cool; art allows for us to have opinions and discussions of its merit and worth. What isn't cool is people being rude, which these discussions always seem to devolve into.

NO, Adam wasn't "being lazy". That statement is tremendously rude. If you look over his 2+ decades of work, I don't know that there's any merit to that statement. You can not like the art without making assumptions about how much work the artist did or did not put into it.

Adam was doing something different, just as someone pointed out, he did with his She-Hulk litho art. She-Hulk was a riff on the old Saturday Evening Post cover art. Mystique, Adam felt was suited to the 1950's and 1960's pulp covers genre, so he made an attempt to create an image that fit within that genre. Adam does comic book art every day, non-stop. When an opportunity presents itself to create something outside that genre, he's going to take it. And Sideshow is a creative environment which allows Adam that sort of artistic freedom. Maybe its not everyone's cup of tea, and maybe you are disappointed. But it doesn't make Adam a bad artist or a lazy one; it just means this particular piece of his work is not one that you feel you will enjoy owning. So leave it at that.

Some other examples of pulp cover art that may help you have a better understanding of the genre style Adam was working towards:

It'll still be one print that stays hidden for me, I just don't like the style of it.

Looks like it's almost 95% positive I'll be taking over my friends SW pre-order, so I hope one of you all get the one I'm canceling. I'm really happy her print is the one that's shown with the statue, so there's no surprises.

I don't want to sound rude or anything but IMO that print has required very little time and effort. I have seen B&W steches by AH much better than this. So Dissapointed with AH.

Why preface this statement with "I don't want to sound rude" when it can't sound anything BUT rude? Assuming that you are not an artist yourself; please don't presume what takes time and what takes effort, and how much of each these projects take. And who are you to be disappointed in Adam? I don't even know how to respond to that statement. Adam does 2 - 3 statues a year with Sideshow, and does countless conventions where he signs all these statues and prints for fans, for free. And he does that while also doing his "regular" job as a cover artist exclusive to DC comics. I don't see where you get off being "disappointed" in the guy. So he didn't fulfill your expectations; is it Adam who is to blame for that, or is it possibly unrealistic for Adam to psychically know what you what from him, and for him to execute that for every statue and litho that comes out?

Read back over every thread, for every statue Adam has designed for Sideshow. You guys either are mad at Adam, mad at Tim (or whatever sculptor did the piece), or unhappy with the small kids in China that paint the eyes on these things. This is a tough job, trying to make every happy all the time. Its impossible, actually. So when the opportunity presents itself, the artists responsible are ultimately going to make themselves happy, and try to make their bosses at Sideshow happy. And maybe, hopefully, some of the fans will be happy too.

I can understand your point and I really respect it. If you want to understand my comments as "rude", it is OK, I accept it...but I also have an opinion and like it or not, must be respected. I am dissapointed because I like AH's art, I know it and know what he can do, how awesome it can be....we've already seen it everywhere from conventions sketches, covers...and as I've already said, this last print looks to me unfinished...not worthy of being the EX print of such an awesome sculpture.

Who am I to be dissapointed by AH? One of the nerds that help him pay his bills

Great opinions on the art so far...it's interesting to see everyone views. (After all isn't that what art is about). I personally think the print is one of the best I've seen among the AH SS prints. I'm just dissaointed I couldn't get the exclusive version to get a copy of the print.

When I look at the print I think Venture Bros. for some reason. I actually like the print better than the statue.:wacky

Having an opinion is one thing, and being rude which you admit to being is another.
All the collectors that are out there cannot be pleased by every single piece of art that a certain Artist creates. Peoples tastes change, a different drawing direction is used or even required, that does not mean that said artist is doing nothing but their best on the project just because it may not be something you like this time.

Art is subjective and if not are not happy with this piece or the print or any other aspect of it for that matter, cancel/sell it. I'm sure there are hundreds of others on waitlists etc that are looking for it.

By all means state your opinion but please show some respect to the time and effort these pieces of Art demand when being created. It may look easy as a finished product but a lot of time, energy for both sketching and layouts aswell as all the research that comes with each piece is both incredibly time consuming and difficult. Please just because you may not like this one, do not consider they have done anything but their best by way of effort gone into creating it.

I didn't admit being rude at all....I just respect her opinion to believe so.

I would be rude (whatever that means) if I were less politically correct and really spoke my mind about the subject. Anyways...who cares...
