Glances over at my "deluxe" desert sands detachment sandtrooper. Didn't even realize it was a deluxe... what was so different from this and the clone troopers?

Do you mean other Sandtoopers? Tighter body, multiple pauldrons, much better weathered paint application, more weapons. Sandies went up in price over the Stormtrooper by $20 to $110 and the Deluxe went up another $25 to $135.

At this point, based on other releases, I can't see Vader costing more than $199 from Sideshow. But we'll find out in less than a week.

So according to the t&c's of the give away competion on the SS website it will be January 2014 before this is in stock...thats ages away!!!

To be honest... that's much better than I expected. Wait... there's going to be delays... nope, that's exactly what I expected then haha.

I'm just happy I'll have a Darth Vader in my detolf with the 8 months or so. I actually found out about Sideshow with their PF General Grievous... then I saw 1/6 Hot Toys which blew my mind... and Sideshow revealed their 1/6 Grievous at SDCC '11 and hooked me in all the way.

2 years later... and I'm still sad with no news of Grievous in 1/6! Soooo an 8 month wait is nothing!
And at least it's not something like Enterbay Django Unchained... where the licensor ends up forbidding it!

I've stared at these for many long hours... I'm not worried about baggy sleeves or missing shoulder guards... only the price...

This looks good, but there's something off about the mouthpiece in the other photos, maybe just lighting, but the fabric parts will need replacing. No doubt there will be customs for sale.

Nothing with that helmet is pleasing to me. If it comes out looking like that it would be heartbreaking. Luckily it looks much better in the other previews so I have good hope. The Medicom diminutive or not looks good to me, old Sideshow not so much.

Look closely and you will find this is just a PLACEHOLDER. It is basically a repainted ANH Vader with a few bits and bobs from the Deluxe figure. That is not representative of what is going up for preorder.

Given the contest makes no mention of it being an EX piece I'm thinking there won't be an EX of this one :(

Well upon reading what the winner will get I see it a little differently to you...

ONE (1) winner who enters before the cut-off time will walk away with an Exclusive Darth Vader Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure!

It seems to me to be clear confirmation of an exclusive edition...but I guess we will all know either way on the 23rd!

Well that's good news if they mean EX. I was just going by this:

"In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Sideshow Collectibles is giving fans a chance to win ONE (1) Darth Vader Deluxe Sixth Scale Figure! Enter today!"
