As I said the sculpt is a fail but I'm getting this to represent ESB Vader so it would have stayed in the box either way. Not a deal breaker but it does make it even more overpriced for me. Whatever, just means I'll buy fewer figures this year.

Does this really look right to everyone?

The chest box looks small, rides too high.

The shoulder/chest armor looks too small.

Neck looks elongated.

Torso looks elongated.

Belt looks small.

Cod piece looks too textured.

Photo is too sharp.

Too much blue in the background.

Vader looks very black.

Im really gonna have to say the chest armor looks WAY too small. Its tiny!
Belt looks small too, but its the armor that will forever annoy me if its REALLY that small. Looks like a bib.

The problem is there's no such thing as a perfect anything when it comes to Star Wars, there's too much inconsistency in the films and supporting materials themselves. "Great" or "Good" is fine with me.

I believe he meant that this is the best officially licensed mass produced Vader at this scale. And from what I can see he's right.

Until Hot Toys 1-ups them in a few years. I'll wait.

I'm going to buy the light-up belt to upgrade my ANH Vader.

I might buy the Vader reveal helmet as a separate item just to have. It's not Shaw, it's not Hayden... it's not even Shayden... but I still want it.

Shayden! Good one Wor-Gar! :goodpost::lol

And yet people were saying no way this would hit even the 200 mark :lol

Some people are simply stupid? :dunno
Lol, that was lerath that was saying he couldn't see it being over $185.00 at one point! Man, just chill with these comparisons to HT/Coulson. :lol I get it and not to stoke the fires, but Coulson looks like Coulson... not that I'm too fussed as I'd never display "Anakin" but that sculpt does not look like Shaw. (And the helmet... I'm a bit concerned about it. Maybe it's just easier to represent in statue form as opposed to plastic 1:6? Just to my eyes I've seen much better representations at the same scale or smaller.)

I also agree with Batty and others that say the *****ing would be going on regardless of the price but the price does make it harder to overlook any flaws. On the other hand, price maybe isn't that bad for the entire package, even with some issues (depending on whatever yardstick you want to use for comparison). Tough to say. Luckily the exclusive is not that amazing, so I'll be content to wait until in-hand pics arrive, if necessary.

Word :lecture but don't bad mouth a $1,000 custom that looks like a Cosplayer.
Sometimes I can't help but compare custom prices to mass-produced but I think really they're two different animals and trying to rationalize the prices and quality is a waste of time. Hot Toys would have a very, very tough time equalling some customizers' pieces even at half the price and with sufficient demand to make a run worth it, IMO. I have seen other stuff where I'd agree with what you're saying, but it's much tougher to thrash the product of an individual than it is to say nothing at all (as opposed to a company like SSC or HT -- even though the sculptor might be known in the community or whatnot).

Oh, it's not that bad and it's not about calipers, dammit! I really dislike that argument because no-one here is measuring and using those stupid line photos to compare anything. It's the same issue I had with the Medi Vader. To me, that sculpt 'looks' too cutesy. To others it looks fine. This sculpt looks too, I dunno, elongated or crushed in. Anyway, I'm gonna wait for more info but no-one should let anyone else's opinion of the figure impede their enjoyment of it (so long as the opinion is expressed respectfully, of course -- and for my part, if I don't like what I see after awhile, I won't harp on it and will move along -- best I can do!).

I like the sculpt, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of our talented customizers came out with an alternate eyebrowed, sad, humpty dumpty version!

Personally, this photo looks like a well lit Hasbro 3 3/4" figure. Something about the suit makes it look sculpted. I agree with the rest of the list. Everything mentioned does look off (too small or too textured). I'd be happy to take someone's ANH Vader instead.
