What are we going to get? ESB had no cape hook visible, and the cape chain was often hidden under the neck of the helmet (Apparently, this caused much uncomfortableness for Mr. Prowse.) In ROTJ, they added the cape hook on the armor, and the chain hoked around it.

I think we're seeing pictures of different prototypes...

Yup. Apart from those you pointed out is the difference between the suits, which I previously mentioned and can be seen on both the photos you attached. Pinstripes on both look hot-pressed, but one seems to appear like stitched broken lines, while the other had straight, deeply cut lines. I'm sure it's just not lighting. And like you, the question "what are we going to get?" comes to my mind.

Either way, price and/or inconsistencies aside, it's going to be made of pleather for sure, and the very humid climate we have makes me shy away from figures that can't do without the pleather part of their costumes (unlike Bane that I could shift to sweater in case pleather deteriorates, and my EB BD T800 is, well, battle damged anyway, so...)

LOL This thread moved so fast since I first mentioned my noticing the jumpsuit pattern differences, and backreading a few pages I now know that it has been discussed too many times, by VintijDroidGutzz himself and a few more fellow boardies. My apologies guys!

But I'm guessing it was made out of individual links, whether plastic or metal, as opposed to one solid piece. We've seen all kinds of figures use metal chain, there's no reason this one @ $250.00 can't include that detail. I definitely agree with those that are saying it's kind of crazy to be putting in more money in mods to the most expensive figure Sideshow's released.

Nope. Vader in the movies used a solid plastic chain. No individual links. The metal chain you see on Vader was only used on the touring suits. Metal cape chains on Vader isn't movie accurate. In this, sideshow has it right.

You must not go into any of the Hot Toys Nolan Batman and Joker threads. :lol
Oh, yeah... Dammit.

Lol, well how about it looks cheap and would look better with individual links. I'll have to look at some stills, I guess.

Yeah, I'd rather my figures be screen accurate and be made out of what its supposed to look like than be reality accurate and made out of random junk parts and crappy quality fabric because that's all they had at the time.

A movie still from RotJ.

That cape chain is likely a fifty cent chunk of plastic from a gardening store. Probably a little more difficult to reproduce at 1/6 scale.

I have my OT discs on my shelves and took a quick look at Vader. Screen grabbed a close up from the scene where a captured Luke called him "father", adjusted the light a little to make the chain in question clearer:

Looks like they found it in a trash can. :lol The movie was made in the 1980s, try to be more reasonable with it being an exact replica people.

It is off, that's pretty obvious, but some of the things being complained about it is just :slap

Dang! No disputing those pics. I could've sworn it was actual chain from memory.

Meh, don't see why it matters so long as it's not stated objectionably.

I think by the time I get my hands on him y'all be surprised.

Going to give this dude the special care he needs, real gloves, boots and groin piece out of leather. Fix his straps and belt too. Real chain, because my friends, the chain is molded plastic if ya haven't noticed. Repaint helmet and mask with a little bit mixed blacks and maybe a touch of silver, depends really. Repaint the belt pieces, control box and shin guards. Etc.. etc... maybe even get my friend IDM to get a very nice undershirt and pants to match the original on-screen version.

Then try to find me a SSC Stormtrooper mid waist section, left knee shin, detonator and belt; since I own a sandtrooper for other parts. Then mold and cast that along with a marmit stormtrooper helmet (Got full marmit from Waller, thanks man!) Get a couple knock off Slims based on TTs and then stitch some black spandex and we got a display that's awesome.

Estimated cost, around $400 with $260 vader.

Well that's my plans for next year. Y'all?

I'm going to open him up, put him on my shelf and enjoy looking at him.

You can buy chain like that at Michaels.
