Yeah, HT is gonna topple Sideshow with one Star Wars figure a year from a license they don't have :lol

cant tell if youre agreeing or being sarcastic... :lol

Pretty sure that's sarcasm. Happy for Hot Toys to do the humans and SS to do the aliens.

I'd rather that ANH Han from Hot Toys than anything else to be honest.

it wont be HT that sinks sideshow, itll be sideshow that sinks sideshow lol, theyre are asking way too much.

And HT said theyre working on more SW offerings, then add that Hasbro only has the license until 2018, then its up for grabs and will probably be divied up, then we'll see some good competition

How does that work, anyway? I'm guessing Hasbro has the deepest pockets by far and so probably has the license in perpetuity, but maybe they could switch out the sub-license to HT instead of SSC. :D Yeah, not likely, but it's not like SSC is doing a lot beyond clones, at the moment (and quality of other stuff is not on par w/pricing). Line seems pretty moribund.

Well, I'm judging it by the lack of any interesting reveals/pre-orders for months and months on end (and possibly no SDCC exclusive is another sign). Maybe I'm just misremembering, since when I first got into the line, I had to catch-up on a lot of stuff. Maybe the pace back then felt fast when really it wasn't. But it seems pretty slow for a long while now and what releases there are seem predictable.

Can't see hasbro pulling Sscs licence. No way will ht produce enough figures for the new trilogy to pay for it. Asian licence maybe instead of medicom but not American etc

Remember even with iron man etc they are the mass market 12 inch versions - which my kids love but jeez they're poor quality.

Ssc may have faults but if ht had this licence from day one we would still only have about six figures. Probably five Lukes.

Probably true since the toy industry has consolidated and Hasbro is
one of the last men standing.

SSC does clones because they make money, the same way HT does Iron Man over and over and over....etc. The sub-license will go to whoever can pay the most dollars when it expires. And that will mean prices will go up to pay that new higher license fee. Don't hope for a change in license unless your willing/able to pay a lot more for your figures.

They're priced at the breaking point for me, at least. I don't think I would really be willing to pay much more than what Hot Toys and Sideshow are asking for these days.

SS took 6 years to make their Vader and I'm sure it would be at least that when HT shows theirs. And the helmet will still be off and Fat Pasty Dough Boy Shaw head will look Asian.

If the quality is on par with HT, I'd be fine paying a higher price. The thing with the clones bringing in money is it doesn't seem to result in SSC releasing anything imaginative or unexpected (and while Iron Man has many iterations, they're not all just repaints... a lot easier to see where the money's going, even if I'm fatgued with the line). Kinda just waiting now to see how SDCC goes.

Agreed. And while iron man is a cash cow for them its clearly a no brainer on what quality work they can do and what value they can provide even if they charge a slight premium. The robocop series is a classic example that is mindblowing, some of the dx series stuff has been great too, even if i go a bit back in time... Whiplash and many others have delivered value for money. Were there issues? surely - but worth the money so far. I grew up watching star wars, and am sure many others here did too, and hence a bit more critical when it comes to star wars and in specific to vader... And why not! ..... SDCC will decide for me if i will hold the preorder or let go... With over 120 six scale figures so far bought, traded its time to be selective rather than a shelf feeder :(

Lol... Or may just reuse the cowl from dx 12 since it dint belong there anyways...

I believe howard chen from HT indicated in a recent interview that entire star wars line up and also back to the future is in works (posted today on hot toys fan page). Like me many others have been unhappy with this figure or at least of what we are seeing right now and my basic point was just that. I feel this is long away and ss can still do a lot to improvise this figure for it to be more impactful.
Bottom line... We can say what we want but this is a 250 dollar figure and does not measure up - at least what we see in prototype pics.

Did I miss something? The interview said, "We know that the Back to the Future series is highly anticipated, we are still working on it to bring the figures to the fans. Star Wars is also in the works."

:dunno

Well got my points off so this should be costing around £100 now. At that price, it's worth it to me.

Are u buying from sstoys or some place else? at that price cant complain at all. The only thing i dont like abt sideshow / ss toys / US is they dont give rewards for the remainder money e.g £ 100 in ur case. I prefer to buy smaller figures or bodies ilo actual 1/6 figures or statues as that enables me to gain the 5 pct on big purchases... Also i feel they (sstoy) have to do the 5 pct rewards as they charge tax unlike ebay or some other sellers and also that allows smaller resellers to have a market as the price point is maintained steady and higher!

Nah just from Sideshow. I've got nothing else to use them on presently and thought may as well. The 250 points is no big loss.
