Vader isn't due until March 2014, is he?

I think it's supposed to be January 2014, but will most likely be delayed.

What bothers me most about them not seeming to get the dome right is a) they got it wrong on their previous Vader and got a lot of flack for it; and b) their other scale Vaders don't seem to suffer from a too-small-dome. Obviously they are aware that dome size is an issue.

Such a shame... After years of collecting the first time i will ever be cancelling a preorder and that is a vader... What an iconic figure and what a b grade effort by sideshow. Plain and simple ... Sucks.

The rest of It looks fine and I'm sure it won't take long for us to work a fix even if it is one of us make a new one. Lots of talented folk on these boards nowadays

Seems like there was a panel discussion in SDCC. I wonder if anyone asked about it.

the panel went long and questions were kept to a minimum... it was not brought up. SST literally had to rush their trivia questions in order to give away a few prizes.

the panel was early (for me anyway)... i hadn't even seen the SST booth... to be fair, these things seem to constantly run late (there are always tech difficulties).

the SST employees are on the floor so asking questions is never an issue. i wouldn't expect much in terms of answers though... how does one respond to "how is the same mistake present the second time around?" without taking responsibility?

at this price, it isn't encouraging that customization will have to be done to the figure. the body may be shorter but the armor seems to be the same size (leaving the piece feel somewhat out of proportion).

crazy thing is, they seem to have nailed Darth Malgus in 1:6...

Yeah, the Medi head / helmet looks, for lack of a better description.. cutesy.

Tiny face & 'Dark Helmet' dome cutesy, almost. :lol

It seems like it really is going to be either; wait for HT, or take my time & make a custom now. :monkey1

Cutesy. :lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I said I thought the sculpt looked goofy in the Medi thread and got blasted.

Not to sound cruel but I think ignorance is at play on SSC part unfortunately. :monkey3

It would be nice to let HT take on a few OT characters. But only time will tell. But I would like to be around when it happens...:lol

The pants needs to be fixed. Are the Sideshow people blind. How can they not see those pants are way to baggy?

Is this worth getting or there are better darth vader's out there ? I only want to get one and prefer to get what's best . Either 1/6 or 1/4 scale .

Not ordering this **** unless they fix the damn dome.
2nd time around and still looks like crap? cmon SS!
now i have to wait for in hand pics.. sigh.

Why? we are still waiting for HT Anakin. With one figure every 2 years (or more), why bother.

It's a pretty limited selection. Medicom's version 2 Vader is pretty nice (looks better than SSC's prototype for sure) but underscaled for me and there's something about the mask that I don't like (though some here love it). Beyond that there's only SSC's ANH Vader that you'd have to pick-up after market and mod (height, dome, maybe cape) to get looking nice. I'd probably wait and see what this Vader looks like once people have it in hand. There's still a chance that SSC will fix some of the more glaring issues with the helmet by then.

Because there's no chance they'd mess up an iconic character like Vader. Honestly, I'd be happy if we knew HT would be releasing ESB Vader in say 2016, just to know it'd be done right. Obviously that won't happen but it'd be nice.

I wouldn't say that, Hot Toys have managed to screw up several different versions of Batman over the years, none of the Bale Batman cowls are accurate to the film, just recently they messed up the Mark VII Iron Man helmet which is quite an achievement on their part considering they have had about twenty figures to practice on before hand and two years ago they took one of the most iconic characters in cinema and butchered his likeness to the point where Hasbro have managed a better job.

Hot Toys, Sideshow, Enterbay and Medicom all have track records of managing to screw up iconic characters for whatever reason, no company is infallible.

I'm not saying I don't want them to have a crack at it, it would be cool to see but currently we have a no show on Skywalker which probably won't be released until late 2014 now then there's supposedly a Han Solo which will probably be 2015 or maybe even 2016 and then after that Padme which could be as late as 2018. Add that to the backlog of other characters they said they will do and then the backlog of characters they'll have by the time Padme is released then there could be a chance of seeing Vader by the 50th anniversary. Regardless of that I like the look of this Vader in the videos I have seen which is weird considering the photos don't seem to be doing him any favours.

They are lights.

That's good then. But the light sabre has no light. Correct?

I read few major negative feedback about this figure. Is it really that bad ? I want to have one 1/6 stairways figure and joggling between this and darth magul
