Yeah, thanks btw....my wife said you painted the lights to look on, so now I owe her a fancy pants dinner. :lol:yess:

Seriously, though, awesome work as always, SS!!! :clap

I vote you take her to aviary first for cocktails then to Alinea for dinner. Look them up. :wave

I'm disappointed with what I've seen so far of this Vader. Particularly the robe and cape. It doesn't hang well, and it's too long -- just doesn't look like it's been tailored in any way. Sloppy.

He looks great to me. Nice and menacing.

I'm no student of the Vader suit so any errors are going over my head.

Presuming they use the same materials as the ANH, is the suit itself good quality? That is, a soft pliable pleather, rather than the peelable Medicom/Hasbro-style?

Searching Google I saw no issues with the ANH, but plenty with the Medicom, so my guess is Sideshow did something right.

I saw 2 Sideshow employees today at Comic-Con take out of the display case this Vader. I asked one: Where are you putting it now? And he replied: We might put it away. I then asked: Why? Too many complaints about the helmet? He then smiled and said "Yep".
True story.
:lol

Not sure if serious...

I saw this today at SDCC and it looks like a revised version of ANH. Just updated. Parts aren't recycled but definitely an updated sculpt. Main new feature is pleather gloves, which is a nice touch. Wasn't too impressed over all.

Gloves aren't pleather. That's paint on a really good sculpt. I was very impressed with the sculpting of them when I painted them. Very realistic texture.

If what Commtech says is true, and I have no reason to doubt him, that's actually a good sign. Sure Sideshow is probably annoyed by all of the _____ing so much of their stuff is getting, but at the same time, it's obvious they are listening and caring what we Freaks think, even if they don't like to hear it. They really seem to want to give us the best they've got these days, even if it means trying again.

I admire that. I hope that continues. It's certainly what made Hot Toys and Enterbay great in a big hurry.

I've already said it, but it's just those pics.
It looks fine in Crawford's pic.

That looks beautiful. Although I'm happy with my Medi version, it'll be nice to have an actual properly sized version to go with DX Luke :) EXCITED :yess:

For all the praise they received when the prototype of the first Vader was shown, to come back with a helmet that strongly resembles the compromised production version of the same, I think they should take it to heart.

I'll wait for more pics. I can't see an issue with the helmet at the moment in these pics, not saying there isn't.

I've grown up with Star Wars and Vader since I was a kid like many here but my attention to detail must be bad because I like the look of this figure.:)

damned sure they should!!!i can not believe that they try to give us another bad vader helmet after the first one clearly wasnt up to par!!
should be easier to fix that for some professional builders to correct that!
if we can see it,why cant they??:dunno

I don't know. But I would never characterize it as something "they try to give us". They are making the attempt to offer you a Darth Vader figure. If their best is not good enough for you, indignation won't change a thing.

Just on the face of that last pic there, the dome isn't aligned properly with the eyes anyway.. :dunno

not that vibed on this SSC Vader - let alone the last one.

HT - you're my only hope. :lol

I so wish Sideshow's best to be indeed the best Vader out there. But unfortunately that won't happen to soon. :(

I just wish they were a bit more enthusiastic about showing us what they have to offer. None of what makes this Vader distinct is on display. Not so much as an ignited lightsaber. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that we were all pretty excited to see him, and now that the time has come, it doesn't feel like they're trying too hard to impress.

I'm not even going to consider this a preview. I'll have an opinion when they're actually ready.
