Got inspired by the photos and talk to finally do something to my Vader as well.

Stripped him down and wrapped gauze bandage around his thighs and forearms. It cured most of the 'groin crease' problem, but not completely because putting the shin part of the boots back on always forces the suit back up a bit.

I think Clipperking cut the bottom off the suit legs and stuck the remainder down. It's a bit drastic for me, but it's a tempting procedure.

When I had him, what I did is that I put the legs of the suit inside the boots/shin guards before putting the suit (together with the boots) on the body. No need for cutting.

Sounds like a neat solution to the problem.

I wish I'd thought of that before putting everything back on him. :lol

I have my deluxe Vader for sale in my BST. Cheaper than sideshow. Kept in great shape. Smoke free home. Shipper included. PM me
And we can chat.

Honestly, if you can find the ANH suit, it looks a million times better.

I was watching eBay for a long while before one came around, but was well worth it.

So I got him in a pose I like (mostly), and I'm digging him a bit more now. For the life of me I can't seem to get his left hand in the "resting on the belt" position without putting the thumb in the belt, which in turns pulls the belt away a bit...

Looks pretty good there! I remember being frustrated with him out of the box as he was more difficult to get a great pose from the get go. Snowtrooper was my first figure and thought it was easy to find a nice pose in a couple minutes (couldn't find a post I didn't like type of thing). Vader took much more work, probably cause of all the moving parts and some of the wonky elements of the figure.

Thanks TonTon! Snowtrooper was my first figure too. And yes, I got him into his pose without much fuss. My Vader pose is inspired by a topps trading card from back in the day. I'll have to futz with his left hand/arm more. Hopefully I can get it sitting a little better.

Ok, regarding straightening the cape and robes, what I'm asking is, would ironing the robes and cape damage them in any way? S there a method better than ironing?

This is reminding me of the Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns repeatedly tells Don Mattingly to cut his Sideburns. What do you mean by straightening the cape and robes? I think you haven't received more replies because no one understands what you mean.

You can iron the cape and robe by following directions for rayon for your particular iron.

Also, there's no reason to cut or trim the cape unless one wants to shorten it or there's damage (which Sideshow would take care of with a replacement). The rayon cape drapes amazingly well, better than anything I've ever seen on any figure in 1/6, so I can't imagine you're talking about vertical drape.

I mean the sides of the cape aren't straight. They're wrinkled, and I'm curious as to whether ironing the cape and robes or doing something similar (NOT cutting) would damage them.

Gotcha WRINKLED - I added a bit about ironing above, but in short, yes, you can iron the cape or robes. You may want to put something over the fabric (like a clean thin cotton sheet).

Pixelpiper, do you know a good way to get the wrinkles out of the helmet?

300 thread count 100% cotton bag or pillow case. Put the helmet inside it and beat with a mallet for 25 minutes. Then roll back and forth with a steam roller a few times. Apply smiley-face decal and done.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I was panicking for a bit because I thought I'd ruined him. :panic:

You're a life saver. Somebody please rep Pixel for me!:rock

Back too the body padding - Pretty sure I mentioned this before, but I used teflon tape (plumbers tape). Very easy to add and remove to desired thickness/bulk & will not get caught up by the clothing when you re-dress your Vader dolly.

Looks like I'm gonna get the "new" Vader and salvage a few bits off this one and the old SS anh offering to make a nice (hopefully) final Vader fig. The circle is <almost, finally> complete!

It's official, mine is going back. Got my return label from sideshow. I'll pick him up again somewhere down the line, and probably cheaper. Or get a modded one that pops up here from time to time.

Well there's the broken tusk, the super height, the skinny body...just wasn't feeling it. I only want figures that I'll love, and I wasn't loving this one.
