Looked good at comic-con and looks good now. This will be something I most likely order and keep on order outside of anything related to LOTR or The Hobbit.

SS vader isn't 1/6 either than, it way too ***ing tall!(which don't bother me either, but the scale kids love to whine about it) Some folks believe it or not are not so **** to care about proper height ..

In that case I'll save some money and display my HT Luke with a Hasbro 4" Vader.

The discussion of Medi Vader isn't really relevant here - it isn't 1/6 and can't be displayed alongside figures made by HT or SSC, so it's not a competitor piece to the SSC Vader.

Lots of folks (especially overseas) won't even touch SS SW line and with good reason. Hence why they still got their Medi vaders.


I'll display medi vader proudly with ANY figures i choose to. Can't be displayed with SS or HT GTFO!

Guess we won't be getting a Chewbacca then. As if we were ever going to get him anyway.

I'll be getting this since I don't have the other Vader and don't want to pay that much. The main issues will be relative scale and accuracy of sculpt (I'm not enough of a purist to know the issues with the dome). Vader is supposed to be roughly 7 feet tall. I don't know if the first one accurately reflects that or not, but I hope this one does. Also I guess his helmet is supposed to be removable so the sculpt underneath will also be important. I wonder if Vader I will tumble in the secondary.

As far as SS screwing up the license, I bought the first few way back when when they were first released and was mortified by the horrid quality and sculpts. Just got back in the game about two months ago and am pleased that things have gotten significantly better, although still a ways to go. I'm hoping that HT revisits the core humans (Farmboy/Jedi Luke, Bespin/Hot Han, ANH Leia, Lando, Anakin, Padme, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Mace). If that happens I really think it's going to help strengthen SS's overall line.

I think SS has more or less failed with the SW license. They got one of the biggest licenses in the world, and still can't get it right. Still got loose bodies, off proportions, and proto to final so glaring it's incredible. I mean hopefully this turns out ok, but this late in the game i think it's time to pin hopes elsewhere.

5 years + and they still can't nail it. At least Hasbro knew better to hand the license over.

I don't really follow the SW stuff very closely, but they've only tried Vader twice, right? Hot Toys has done like, 7 Nolan Batman figures and none of them are quite right.

There's only a few that look good but that's after they're heavily altered, modded and customized.

I really like the SSC ANH Vader and all I did was push the dome down a tad.

if this were to be the final prod, it will be a pass for me. but since medi vader was brought up yet again... i don't think it takes some thinking to understand that this version 2 still is better compared to medi, despite just one crappy sideshow photo

There's only a few that look good but that's after they're heavily altered, modded and customized.

As it stands, I'd choose my ROTJ Medi over this pos all day long. Each to their own though.
