I can understand why hard-core fans b *tch and moan about the dome tbh. While it doesn't bother me personally (I'm happy with the ANH version for all its listed faults), those who aren't happy are entitled to feel ripped off that, on the second go - and for close to double the money no doubt - the figure appears to be suffering from the same flawed design in a key costume component.

If this figure was a more accurate height and had a more accurate dome than the first Vader, I'd pick it up. As it is I find it kind of ridiculous that figures that are ostensibly re-releases don't represent an improvement on what was released years ago.

Oh well.

Sorry, but I'm unable to answer design/development questions for the most part as it's just not information I'm privvy to. I always try to share as much info as I can with y'all but in some cases I simply do not have answers to do so from time to time.

Damn, I wanted to buy this Vader too!

His helmet and dome sculpts are not even close to being accurate, even when the placement is changed! His mask is way to skinny and eyes are not the correct length apart!

Even worse he looks too skinny and the body armor doesn't look like the correct size.

Sigh...

I hope they make some small changes or I'll have to wait for a good deal.

That's why I kind of have to chuckle with you saying how bad this looks. This looks like Vader

Oh yeah it obviously looks like Vader in the general sense. But the figure is missing a certain distinctiveness that the original costume had.

I'm not so OCD about accuracy that I need all the little imperfections and intricate details of the costume replicated exactly in the figure. But one look at that preview image and it just looked off to me.

The mask/dome, the small-looking shoulder armor and the tiny chest box are what stuck out.

The helmet is Vader's likeness. It's no different than how the Hot Toys Indy figure looks "only slightly" like Ford. But you'd think it would actually be easier to get Vader right.

Just overall shape looks a bit strange. SSC's "nose" looks a bit too small (making the grill triangle too large) and the "eyes" not high enough but as everyone says, I guess it's mostly the dome's size in relation to the "face."

I don't think it looks slightly like Vader I think it looks exactly like Vader unlike the HT Indy. That was my point with that comment. Like I said in the end I don't care much if others see it the same way or not. That won't be a factor for me buying it nor will it factor for others.

Looks like SSC employees aren't the only ones needing to have their vision checked.
