I plan on bashing both the first one and the second with the new ones stuff to make the best of them both.

The R&R body is terrible for Snake Eyes. I am 100% sure that, and the layers of clothing, are responsible for making the sculpts looks small. Once switched out to a slimmer body and properly futz, I think this will be another great release from Sideshow. I look forward to pics from EVILFACE. I find it hard to believe that Khev can't see the body is to large, primarily the arms.

Still cancelled mine though.

I didn't pre-order, but if I did and then saw yours, I'd cancel too.

No, this is supposed to be their version of the first SE.

Except you can't back that up. This version of SE actually comes with more v2 accessories than v1. The visor, the sword, and the wolf. For v1, it comes with the goggled head. That's it. This is clearly a deluxe SE.

If it was a deluxe, they would have said DELUXE and charged you another 100.00

Again, that just isn't something you can back up. Commandy Cody was stated to be their first deluxe figure and he was neither labeled a deluxe when he went up for preorder nor was he $100 more than a standard clone.

The arms and biceps are buff. Bigger than a TTM19.

Are they? They look the same size to me but I dunno. I don't own R&R nor Zartan.

The only thing that strikes me odd about both bodies is that the arms are big but the body is skinny.

:lol

The visor, the skin tight shirt, the Falchion sword, you cant be that naive. Their version 1 was supposed to be SE 2. Even the fact that they stated on an interview that the extra head on this new one was to update their v1. Timber could go either way, yeah he came with the visored figure, but he made his first cartoon appearance with goggled SE.

I was being sarcastic.

I wouldn't want a big buff body with all the gear these guys have.

Substantially bigger. :lol Size-wise, the arms are in between the TTM19 and the T800 bod.

I can. They missed the boat not including Timber with their last release (which would've been more appropriate), so they stuffed him in this release along with an updated head to fix the issue with the last figure being the only one with a cloth head. This one has the goggled head, the "sweater," the H-harness w/web belt. This is clearly Sideshow's take on Commando Snake Eyes with accessories to display him as Ver.2 for those who missed out and don't wanna pony up on the secondary, or need to update the older figure. I'm willing to go so far as to wager the goggled head will appear on the figure that's photographed on the front of the box signifying that this is, in fact, their take on a Ver.1 Snake Eyes.

But snake eyes looks good on a hot toys TT-19. He doesn't look over buffed like he's on steroids.

It's mostly the sweater that's the problem, I admit.

Based on what? The visor sculpt? The sword? The wolf? That ain't version 1.

This is clearly a "deluxe" SE allowing you to pick and choose which version you want or to just mash them together.

I suppose that's true but the main draw for me - and I assume most people who already own and/or plan to keep the first version - was that this was the goggled, "V1" Snake Eyes from '82/'83.

The problem for me is that if Sideshow wants to make a true "deluxe" figure and charge Hot Toys prices they'd better get the details right. That bulky sweater just doesn't look right at all, and the small goggled, "gimp" mask look is even worse.

It's okay... but for Hot Toys prices they'd better have Hot Toys details.

The sweater is going to be the bane of this figures' existence.

Yeah, I don't know why they choose to go with that REI sweater. I mean, they already had sweaters and the pattern for that was great. All it needed was a short turtle neck. I think it would have looked great with them muscle arms.

Nope. Sideshow's first SE was a head to toe rendition of Tim Bradstreet's 2004 reimagining of the character for Devil's Due "GI: Joe Reborn #1" that created a brand new continuity for the characters in 2004. The falchion was just a bone SSC threw to those who remembered better versions of the character.

It absolutely was not a "1985" version of the character. In fact they didn't even use his 1985 dossier for the filecard. They reprinted the text from 1982! 2004 design with a 1982 write-up. With an "extra" sword as the one throwback to 85', and even with that they didn't design a place for him to carry it on his person.

Even the fact that they stated on an interview that the extra head on this new one was to update their v1. Timber could go either way, yeah he came with the visored figure, but he made his first cartoon appearance with goggled SE.

You can stick the new head on the old scrawny body sure but I don't know why you'd want to when it looks much better on this one. I am aware that Timber debuted on the MASS Device which just further lends itself to this being a deluxe figure. You can make a modern version of his goggled look, a modern version of his visor w/sword look, or a MASS Device-style hybrid utilzing goggles AND wolf.

Big deal. Cody was displayed with his Phase II helmet on the cover of the box but he actually was shipped wearing the Phase I and the Phase II bucket in a side compartment as an accessory. It's just a picture. Deluxe is deluxe.

Your big fail here is you're intentionally ignoring the "Sideshow's version" aspect to my post. :wave :lol
