Doesn't appear to be. He's got his thicker outer sweater as seen here:

So... Snake-Eyes gets his gear from REI?

Never really seen any GI except the movie and I kinda half watched that, born in 1984 and in Australia so I never really got to watch the toons either think i was a bit too young to care about it if it was airing, a lot of the basis of getting him is he looks cool :lol

I also needed an appropriate candidate to setup a battle with the samurai predator, and that load of weaponry is a great set. Wolf is a also a nice extra, don't have any animals.

Is he regarded as one of the more/most popular GI Joe characters?

Yes he is.

Time for you to pick up some of those toon dvd sets and the mini-series movies to make up for lost times. The old Marvel comics series from the 80's is even better. :)

Who cares what your average run of the mill ninja looks like? This is Snake Eyes, and Snake Eyes is buff.

Doesn't look all that "buff" to me.

Fact: This is supposed to be a V1 Snake Eyes, and the facesculpt looks more like a gimp mask than anything I ever saw in the old RAH '82 figure, cartoon, or comic, so... :)

Oh yeah, and I got that Recon environment set so I don't really need the wolf. That version of Timber might be a bit small but I don't mind... Maybe he was the runt of the litter, or half-dog or something. :)

Yea Snakes doesn't need to be on the RnR body. He would have a athletic build not a body builder.

That said, the body will be used elsewhere. Will prolly use a Headplay one for him.

THIS is the Snake-Eyes I want.

This is the original and quintessential Snake Eyes.

However, Sideshow's Snake Eyes are beyond cool and are every bit as welcome in my collections as a Sideshow figure that perfectly matched this one would be.

The 1985 art isn't the best example of his buffness only because his arms and chest are obscured by his hands and grenades and whatnot. The best reference for his size is the 1982 card art. It shows him to have visible muscles even through a sweater. Which the new figure does:

Based on what? The visor sculpt? The sword? The wolf? That ain't version 1.

This is clearly a "deluxe" SE allowing you to pick and choose which version you want or to just mash them together.

No, this is supposed to be their version of the first SE. The visor is for the second one, their first. If it was a deluxe, they would have said DELUXE and charged you another 100.00
