1/6 Sideshow Star Wars Scout Trooper 1/6th Scale Figure

I love the Hot Toys Stormtroopers, they're an outstanding release. But to be fair I feel as if the SSC Scout Trooper is on par with them on every level, based on the photos I've seen:

1. Accuracy or lack thereof is the same. The helmets on both releases are off, yet both of them are close enough to "read" correctly. You can subtract points on the Scout for knee pads or blaster scale, but the HT Stormtroopers could be said to lack subtle weathering, plus tapering on the shoulder bells and shins...

2. Bodies: the HT Stormtroopers may have very tight joints but they can't hold their arms in a neutral position without modding or body swaps, just like the Scout.

The figures appear to be equivalent in every way, which is to say they both miss the mark but the misses are inconsequential to their display value.

I cannot put an equality sign between the HT Stormies and SSC Scout, sorry. I'm not a HT cheerleader, not a SSC hater, nor viceversa. Have no idea about Scout's body right now since I don't have mine yet.

All this being said the Scout is nice, but the helmet and knee pads etc. are way more inaccurate than HT's TK helmet.

As mentioned by a few others, this one is growing on me. I am liking it more and more each day. I really like the looks of him when he is standing in a nuetral pose.




Here is a side by side shot of a custom Scout I did about 5 years ago using the Tomy helmet. This gives you guys a little sense of scale between the two helmets. Its funny, I really thought the custom looked good until I got Sideshow's. I may try to upgrade my custom once this guy gets parted out. However, it may be cheaper to just buy a second one and call it a day.

ha ha chris was just posting mine by my custom trooper. I still dig the custom one. I think if the ssc helmet & the tomy helmet met in the middle of their sizing they would be perfect. anyway I like the scout a bit more today as well.

The custom scouts stiil hold up pretty great next to SS and i still prefer the look of tomy helmet.

I received mine last week but was unable to take some decent pictures until today.
I dremeled the underarm area, put some superglue on neck balljoint (much better now) and did a little dirtwash on the diaper (maybe it's still too white but at least it's not blinding):

Manipulating the old Stormie and the Snowie I realized how even crappier those body were in the past. I mean, Scoutie Pro is still crappy and awkwardly proportioned, but at least is able to stand and hold the guns properly...

Mine scout trooper came last week. I used to collect Star Wars 1/6 scale but decided to sell up and collect Star Wars premium formats. Soon as I seen the scout trooper and speeder bike come up for preorder I had to have it as its my favourite Star Wars character. Waiting for the bike that should be here next then I will use one of the spare besta shelves for a proper display. Think I got my current scout trooper as I want him, will add more logs plants etc in due course. Might even add another scout.

I respect your deep knowledge of all things Imperial, of course, but I think we have a difference of opinion/taste here, since to me the two releases' pros and cons stack up equally against each other; the difference may stem from me being harder on Stormtrooper representations as that's my favourite imperial while not noticing or letting things on the Scout slide.

Where we do agree is that Marmit's overall shape is best; although Hot Toys quality and finish is currently untouchable.

I'm curious to see if my opinion will change with the Scout actually in-hand. I had one on order from way back from a local supplier that should make its way to me at some point soon.

This guy takes fabulous pics outdoors. It looks natural and you can imagine endor scenes playing out with every pic we see in the thread. I find myself posing the scouts every time I enter the room they are displayed. They are so natural in bent and extreme poses. Very happy with this SSC release.

I have them both sitting in front of me and though I was one of the few who wasn't blown away by the HT stormie (helmet seemed a bit 1980's Don Post to me) it definitely seems like a better made and more accurate figure overall than the SSC Scout.

One is glossy and unweathered and the other quite dulled and heavily weathered in places, so a side-by-side is a little subjective, but the joints/body, accuracy to on-screen, and "man in a suit" test I think all go to the HT stormie - despite the fact I really like the SSC Biker now.

Got mine. He is going on my Clone Wars shelf until I can get some SSC Endor Troopers. I think the body is fine personally, seems like a waste of money and time to get a new one. I had no problem posing him. Would still like to weather the pouches. Here is a crappy ipad picture.
