What cabinets are those and what are their dimensions? Thanks. Looks awesome.

The one on the left is a unbranded. But its the same height, shelf spacing and depth as the Ikea Detolf on the right. The width is 580mm.
The cabinet is much better then the Detolf. Coz the shelf support is a aluminum tubing. So what I did I just drilled a new hole to relocate
the shelf screw support. So I can fit the Taun Taun and the Speeder bike (on a new shorter custom support) on top. The back actually is timber laminated in black. So I inserted a white acrylic sheet to better see the dark figures.

That looks awesome, nice work.

Great display too by the way, super setup.

Thanks for the mod tip. It took a bit of modification for the wider cabinet to fit my collection. They are much better then Detolf. Due to there aluminum tube glass support.

As mentioned by a few others, this one is growing on me. I am liking it more and more each day. I really like the looks of him when he is standing in a nuetral pose.

Here is a side by side shot of a custom Scout I did about 5 years ago using the Tomy helmet. This gives you guys a little sense of scale between the two helmets. Its funny, I really thought the custom looked good until I got Sideshow's. I may try to upgrade my custom once this guy gets parted out. However, it may be cheaper to just buy a second one and call it a day. :)

ha ha chris was just posting mine by my custom trooper. I still dig the custom one. I think if the ssc helmet & the tomy helmet met in the middle of their sizing they would be perfect. anyway I like the scout a bit more today as well.

Arrived today. Fantastic in hand but the body is poo. I remove the hand peg the elbow joint pops out. In addition the head is awful wobbly......kinda bummed no wrist articulation but all manageable issues so overall pleased.

Why is it a big company like Sideshow can't get decent bodies?

Something about this figure doesn't quite sit right with me. Not sure exactly what it is because it looks nice and all but it feels a tad on the cheap side (mostly the armor pieces and stuff). I guess having my two Hot Toys Troopers I feel more impressed with them and think this guy is sort of just okay.

Gotta respectfully disagree with you there, Mike...I think this figure looks outstanding. Not really concerned with "how it feels"...it's how it looks for me and I'm pleased with this trooper.

I've got one of those HT Stormtroopers....it's a nice figure. well-made, well articulated, holds a pose and all that....but it almost looks too perfect.

I'm hoping Sideshow keeps cranking on the troopers....I think they do a great job....

Tomorrow I need to do something about the white midsection pouches. Planning to either rub on dirt or mix dirt and water and dunk the cloth. Thoughts?

I dunno. Like I said I think it looks nice but the feel just gives off a cheaper vibe. The feel maybe isn't the most important aspect but it's definitely something that once I had it in hand I noticed right away. I don't think it's necessarily a bad figure but it doesn't quite awe me either. The Hot Toys Troopers to me just feel more sturdy and well made. I think it partly comes down to the body too, I might try and get a different one and get rid of the stock Prometheus.

I love the Hot Toys Stormtroopers, they're an outstanding release. But to be fair I feel as if the SSC Scout Trooper is on par with them on every level, based on the photos I've seen:

1. Accuracy or lack thereof is the same. The helmets on both releases are off, yet both of them are close enough to "read" correctly. You can subtract points on the Scout for knee pads or blaster scale, but the HT Stormtroopers could be said to lack subtle weathering, plus tapering on the shoulder bells and shins...

2. Bodies: the HT Stormtroopers may have very tight joints but they can't hold their arms in a neutral position without modding or body swaps, just like the Scout.

The figures appear to be equivalent in every way, which is to say they both miss the mark but the misses are inconsequential to their display value.

I can't seem to get this guy to hold the small blaster. I tried putting it in his hand but the finger guard on the handle doesn't fit around the fingers. The only way he holds it is crookedly if at all. Any tips?

You can put their arms right by their sides.

I find the HT Stormtroopers to be among the most natural looking of figures.

As opposed to the Scout, whose body hinders natural posing by the limitations in the armpit area:

Still not as close as you can see in the films or in in film stills. At first you'd think it's the armour hindering it, but it's because the Hot Toys body has two issues:

1. It's built like a V-shaped superhero. It has lats on it that the skinny British '70s dudes in the film did not.

2. Those lats are rigid plastic, not the flexible, shifting muscle on a real body.

So by either body swapping, arm grafting or Dremel-ing the stock body, you can achieve a more naturalistic and film accurate look. If you care to look back through the HT Stormtrooper thread I posted several photos of my WiP and finished mods; you can see the difference.

I see what you're saying with the Scout, but neither trooper looks truly "natural" without modding.

You're right about the sizing - the SSC is a bit too big and the Tomy just undersized enough that you notice it. The Tomy visor is too sharply cornered and its black "goggles" are too sharp/triangular (SSC"s goggles look pretty close to accurate) but I love how Tomy did the flip-up aspect.

These custom troopers are important to hold onto (or in my case, finish the one I stopped when SSC announced their scout) because they capture the onscreen look much better, even if the SSC is a superior production figure.
